the largest and most southerly Greek island,Crete is a particular favourite with fun-loving holiday-makers
And it it easy to see why.
For nature lovers, there is snowcapped Mount Ida and Europe's longest gorge, SAMARIA (over 2.000 feet deep) to admire.
For the historically minded there are many ancient ruins and remains to discover, including the historic Palace of King Minos at Knossos - home of the legendary Minotaur.
And there is a multitude of picture postcaed villages and lovely coastal resorts. like Kritsa or the resort of Agios ikolaos that are well worth a visit.

In keeping with its wonderful sunshine record, there is a wealth of excellent beaches around the entire island, particulary at Malia and along the north west coast.

The gentle cooling breeze around Crete makes watersports understandably appealing.
Agios Nikolaos, Malia, Hersonissos and Gouves, are great places to sample the carefree nightlife.
Lively bars and tavernas are around every corner and with good food on the menu, and plenty of restaurants to choose from, you can enjoy eating out every night.

All in all, Crete is a spectacular place in more ways than one. An island that appeals to most of the people, most of the time !
