RAIN STOPS SKIING - BUT THE RACE AND LOPPET WERE MUCH ENJOYED

Tuesday 17 January - The rain makes it impossible to ski. Our annual race last Saturday was a success and exciting!! More than a dozen came to the leisurely loppet on Saturday afternoon, with another dozen snowshoeing.

RACE RESULTS

Kincardine Cross Country Ski Club

Race results: ~4km race 14 January 2017.

1. John Welwood 17:50

2. Steve Booth 17:53

3. Elena Nardozzi 22:25

4. Kevin Nussey 22:59

5. Jana Mika 23:12

6. Karel Mika 23:15

7. Glen Norcliffe 28:46

8. Sakari Halopainen 28:46

Under 15 years: (~2 km)

1 Dana Daetwyler 11:34

This was an exciting race, with several races going on within the race. Only 3 seconds separated the first and second finishers, and third, fourth, fifth and sixth finishers were tightly bunched, while the last 2 skiers had the same time after a frantic race down the Meadow to the finishing line.

Sunday 22nd January @ 2 pm - the Community Snowshoe Event followed by hot apple cider.

_______

Founded in December 1981 and incorporated as a Club in 1991, Kincardine Cross Country Ski Club provides enjoyable skiing and snowshoeing to residents of the area. We are literally a 5 minute drive from the town.

And our trail fees and annual membership are the lowest in Ontario. Trail fees for one day are: individual $3 - a family $5. Annual Club Membership: individual $30 Ė a family $45. We work on an honour system: please put your payment in the locked metal box at the trail head. For annual membership, contact the treasurer, Karel Mika (see contact page). Application forms are at the trail head. At some of the high-end cross-country ski facilities you pay as much for a one day pass at weekends as our annual fee! Parking at Stoney Island is free.

We have collected a number of skis, poles and ski-boots which are kept in the Club hut which may be borrowed if you donít yet have your own equipment (but please return them neatly). Donations of ski boots and poles are always welcome (we have lots of skis).
