This page will be dedicated to all that is Sophie. As I learn more about here, I will post more info. I will start with the basics, and what she has done on Doctor Who.
Sophie Aldred was born 20 August 1962. Sophie Aldred portrayed Ace (real name Dorothy known by few) joining the Doctor in Dragonfire (1987) and continuing until the end of Survival (1989). When Sophie joined the Doctor Who cast, she was, 25 years old. When the series finished in 1989, she was 27 years old. When Dimensions In Time came about, she was 31 years old. This year, Sophie became 36 years old. She has done many spin offs simce Doctor Who, including Shakedown: Return of the Sontarans, and the newly made Mind Games. I will try and have character profiles from everything she has done, if time permits.
The folling will be her profile for Doctor Who:
A young, 16 year old, school girl named Ace (Dorothy being her real name) was pulled from earth by a Time Storm (by the evil Fenric) and was set down on the planet known as Ice World. Here, she finds a job as a waitress. While she was on earth, she was kicked out of school for blowing up her art room with homemade explosives (her favorite weapon, Nitro9) She is soon fired, and sets off to help the Doctor, Mel, and Glitz. Mel decides to stay with Glitz, and Ace joins the Doctor.
The two friends soon end up on earth, November 23, 1963 (date sound familiar?) Anyway, here they fight the Daleks, who are out to capture the Hand of Omega, which the 1st Doctor had just left behind. Ace begins to like a young man named Mike, who turns out to be working for the enemy.
After the Dalek incident, they travel to the planet Terra Alpha, which is under control by Helen A and her “police force” known as The Happiness Patrol. It seems that being sad is a crime on Terra Alpha. Here, Ace and the Doctor help a rebellion against the Happiness Patrol (who paint the TARDIS pink!! Yuck!) and Helen A, who realizes there can’t be happiness without sadness.
After this, the two companions return to Earth once again. There, they are forced to fight the Cybermen, a group of deranged Nazis, and Lady Peinfort(if someone knows, can you tell me how to spell this women’s dreadful name?!?) who are all fighting over the Silver Nemesis (Gallifrey’s “Ultimate Defense”) Fortunately, the Nemesis only responds to the Doctor. Lady Peinfort is merged into the Nemesis (which looks like her anyway) and the Doctor uses the Nemesis to destroy the Cyber Fleet. Ace does close to nothing in this with the exception of destroying a Cybership, and killing Cybermen with gold coins and a sling shot.
After finished with the Cybermen, he Doctor and Ace receive junk mail IN the TARDIS (seems that junk mail is now universal) that promotes “THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE GALAXY”, which is far from great. Ace appears to scared of clowns, and is reluctant to go. While there, Ace helps Deadbeat revert into his true self, Kingpin, she meets Bellboy, who gives her the control for a Robot she later uses against the Head Clown, she also finds one of Flowerchild’s ear rings, which in the NA’s she has taken to wearing in her left ear (see NIGHTSHADE)
After the Doctor defeats the “Gods of Ragnorok” at the Circus, the TARDIS receives an distress call, which takes them to England, 1989. While there, Ace holds Excalibur, meets Brigadier Bambara and Leth-Bridge Stewart for the first time, and finds that the Doctor is in fact Merlin (WOW!)
After this, the Doctor takes Ace to where she fears most, Gabriel Chase, an
evil house located in Perivale.
Ace burned it to the
ground in 1983, and the Doctor and Ace visit it in 1883. There, Ace is forced
to ace her fears, and the entity Light (who catalogs all existing life) Light
self-destructs when he learns that his job will never be done, as evolution
won’t permit it.
On a trip back to Earth in the 1940’s, the Doctor and Ace finally find out (Ace more than the Doctor, he seems to know already) why and how Ace was marooned on Ice World. She is a Wolf of Fenric, and was placed in he Doctor’s timeline on purpose by Fenric. Ace begins to lose faith in the Doctor, but later regains it. Fenric is destroyed by is own henchman, the Ancient Haemovore.
After Fenric, the Doctor takes Ace back to Perivale so she can visit her friends, but they all seem to be missing. She soon learns of the Master, and the Cheetah People. It seems that her friends have been taken to the Cheetah Planet, and the Master plans to use Ace and the Doctor to escape. While on the Cheetah Planet, Ace begins to convert into a Cheetah Person. The Doctor saves her, by stopping her from fighting. In the end, the Master is presumably destroyed, and Ace and the Doctor walk into the sunset with these final words:
“There are worlds out there, where the sky’s burning. Where the sea’s asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke and cites made of song. Somewhere there’s danger, somewhere there’s injustice, and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace! We’ve got work to do!”
