Support a new LPFM station in Denver!

How can you help?

Denver has long had the need for a Community Radio Station that serves the local population, interest groups, businesses and organizations within the Metro area. News and information regarding local events now receives limited exposure from the few commercial radio stations that are able to find time to broadcast at the local level.

The Denver Radio Coalition is a group of concerned citizens who want to bring back localism to Denver radio. We are planning to start a completely new non-commercial radio station in Denver, dedicated to groups that serve the metro area. Groups that have an impact on our community, but do not have the means to advertise, or otherwise get their message to the public. Groups like: Urban Peak, Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods, F.A.C.E.S., Safehouse Denver, The Colorado AIDS Project, Assistance League of Denver, and many, many others.

The FCC recently passes ruling MM99-25, which will allow for a new type of FM radio service that will broadcast at the Community level. Licensing will become available this spring, and the Denver Radio Coalition needs your support to ensure that Denver gets a new Community Radio Station.

We need your letter of support on business letterhead, stating that you pledge to work with the Denver Radio Coalition and the new Denver Community Radio Station once it is created.

We are not asking for money, or any type of contractual advertising agreement. Simply your support for a new community radio station in Denver. One that will serve your best interests, and the broadcast community. The goal of the Denver Radio Coalition is to bring localism, and a community feel back into our neighborhoods through responsible community broadcasting.

If you need help forming a letter, here are some ideas that you may wish to include:

*I {we} support the Denver Radio Coalition in their efforts to bring a new low-power radio station to the Denver area.
*This new community station will supply access to local programming: local music, local news, a wide variety of political and religious programming, and an entertainment alternative.
*Address unmet needs for community oriented radio broadcasting.
*Provide a forum for diverse voices and opinions.
*Provide exposure and sponsorship opportunities for local small businesses.
*Create opportunities for community education on broadcasting. *Address issues and views significant to the cultural and traditional well-being of the area.

Thank you for your help,
