Harmony and Grace

This page is about someone who has introduced balance into my life. My wonderful Husband and FRIEND , Victor.

How we met is probably one of the sweetest and most unlikely stories!

I went to NYC to see my sister one weekend in February of 1998. I ended up going there a few hours early to catch her off guard. I decided to go to the Metropolitan Opera that night to see The Magic Flute by Mozart. The only tickets they had left were up in the Family Circle STANDING ROOM!! (the nosebleed section of the house and not to mention STANDING all the way up there!). I took the ticket and went to my spot. A super cute guy came and stood next to me...that made standing for the whole opera a bit more tolerable! He asked me how the subtitles worked (at the Met, they are beamed to each seat). I showed him how they worked...as nervous as we both were, we started conversation during intermissions about everything under the sun. Obvoiusly, the nerves subsided. It was some of the greatest conversation yet! After the opera was over, it was obvious both of us were stumbling to find something to say to make the other stay and hang out. Well he offered to ride with me back to where I was going, and since I was going to my sister's cafe to hear some music, it was perfect. We hung out there and talked and laughed until 3 A.M. I then walked with him to the Subway and had the most awkward handshake I have ever had (I so wanted to hug him or (dare I say) kiss him)! We then exchanged E-mail adresses (how 90's) and went on our ways. What is the chance of two complete strangers meeting each other at the opera (to which both people went on a whim), hitting it off as friends and falling in love?! Fate was with us that evening, and has been with us since.

To tell you the truth, I was not expecting him to E-mail me...I was hoping, but not expecting. He mailed me the next day, and that started a chain of letters to each other. Then we graduated to phone conversations and a month after we met, he came to Boston to visit me for the first time. From the moment I met him at South Station that night, I knew that my life was changed. He shows me unconditional love and support in everything I do. I show him the same in everything he does...it is so effortless to love him! We laugh together (A LOT), trust one another implicitly, and most of all we talk and listen to one another. We share a tremendous amount of respect for each other and for our paths in life with our chosen professions.

We have been through many life changing experiences in the time we have been together...and every one of those tests have made us stronger together and as individuals.

On October 1st, 1999, He took me to the very spot we met at the Met, and he asked me to marry him...That night, he made me the happiest I have ever been. He has shown me what it really means to love someone unconditionally and completely. Thank you, love. We were married June 16, 2001!

Through all of challenges life has thrown us (and there have been a lot), we have always found love and understanding. We will be embarking on an exciting new adventure when we start out dotoral degrees in Arizona in Fall 2006! I could go on for days, but I will not. "suffice it to say", I love my Vitya with all of my heart and I am so happy that he decided to go to the opera for the first time (on a whim) standing next to me! I am glad that I could share that experience and all of the life experiences we have shared together, that we will share our lives, and that I fell in love with him that night...
