My Joy Division Bootleg List

This is a list of all the Joy Division bootlegs I own, both originals and copies. I've rated them as best I can from hearing them. I rated them compared to the others that I own and of course from personal opinion. Check out my Rare Transmissions page where I have MP3 files I created from some of the bootlegs listed below. That's right, listen to what you want before you get it!

New Additions: Sept. 22, 79 Nashville Ballroom, April 5, 80 Winter Gardens, Aug 11, 79 Eric's Liverpool, April 19, 80 Ajanta Theatre, April 2, 80 Moonlight Club.

RULES:

The only rule I really have is that I prefer to use Maxell TypeII 90min cassettes. If that's a problem just say so and we can figure something out.

"Warsaw" Demo - 18/7/77 - 3" CD - VG Sound
1. Inside The Line
2. Gutz
3. At A Later Date
4. The Kill
5. You're No Good For Me
Notes: A 3"CD recorded while they were still known as Warsaw. The sound is pretty good, taking into consideration it is a "demo". It came with a book called From The Center Of The City.
"Joy Division" (Unreleased Album) - 3+5/78 - CD - VG Sound
1. All Of This For You
2. They Walked In Line
3. Failures
4. Ice Age
5. Interzone
6. Warsaw
7. Transmission
8. Shadowplay
9. Leaders Of Men
10.Novelty
11.No Love Lost
12.Exercise One (peel session)
13.Insight (peel session)
14.She's Lost Control (peel session)
15.Transmission (peel session)
16.You're No Good For Me (warsaw demo)
Notes:This is their first attempt at a whole album and was never "officially" released. You can tell it was copied from a vinyl LP because of a few pops. The peel sessions have pretty poor sound but I have the official peel session elsewhere.
"Atmosphere" - Recording/Radio Session - Cassette(copy) - G Sound
1. Transmission
2. Novelty
3. Dead Souls
4. Always (something must break)
5. These Days
6. Never (candidate)
7. The Only Mistake
8. Chance(atmosphere)
9. Atrocity Exhibition
Notes: Tracks 1-4 were recorded in Central Sound Studios July of 1979. Tracks 5-9 were recorded in Pennine Studios on June 4th 1979 for Piccadilly Radio. This is a copy from the original and the sound is good. Lots of these songs have different lyrics added and Ian plays guitar on Atmosphere!!
"Peel Sessions" - John Peel Radio Sessions - CD - Excellent Sound
31/1/79
1. Exercise One
2. Insight
3. She's Lost Control
4. Transmission
26/11/79
5. Love Will Tear Us Apart
6. 24 Hours
7. Colony

Notes: These are the two, and only two, peel sessions they did. If you don't have it GET IT! It has the best versions of Transmission, LWTUA, and Sound Of Music you'll find anywhere.
"A Retrospective Part II" - Various Recording/Live - Cassette(copy) - Various Sound
11/1/80 El Paradiso encore
1. Atmosphere
2. Interzone
20/2/80 Town Hall, High Wycombe soundcheck
3. Sound Of Music
Unknown Pleasures studio outakes
4. Candidate
5. New Dawn Fades
BBC1 "Something Else" tv appearence

9. Warsaw
10.Love Will Tear Us Apart (not encore)
10/11/80(?) Rainbow Theatre, London
11.Shadowplay
12.New Dawn Fades
13.These Days
Notes: An interesting collection of odds and sods from different concerts and such. The outakes aren't much different from the Unknown Pleasures versions. The versions of Sound Of Music from the soundcheck has totally different lyric order.
"Dead Soul" - Factory 1, Manchestor 13/7/79 + Prince of Wales YMCA, London 2/8/79
- Double LP - G Sound

5. Wilderness
6. She's Lost Control
7. Shadowplay
8. Disorder
9. Interzone
10.Atrocity Exhibition
11.Novelty

Notes: The sound on this is slightly better then the Prince Of Wales gig. Ian is more talkative then usual, introducing Novelty by sayng "This is an old one, some of you may remember..." and laughs often at some fan who keeps screaming "No Love Lost!"

3. Wilderness
4. Auto-Suggestion
5. Transmission
6. Day Of The Lords

3. Leaders Of Men
4. Insight

6. Transmission
7. Disorder
8. She's Lost Control

2. Love Will Tear Us Apart
3. Insight
4. Shadowplay
5. Transmission
6. Day Of The Lords
7. 24 Hours

9. A Means To An End
Notes: This is a portion of the Les Bains Douche gig that was broadcast on French Radio. (It even has the announcer speaking french between some of the songs)

Notes: A beautiful bootleg double LP on clear yellow vinyl with a great pic of the band walking up the stairs (same as on the Peel Sessions CD) but with Ian staring back at the camera. Side one, two, and songs 1 and 2 on side 3 are the Paradiso concert (same as on the Means To An End Cd see below) and has excellent sound, the recording session tracks have good sound except for the last two tracks which has very good sound.
"A Means To An End" - El Paradiso, Amsterdam 11/1/80 - Cd - Ex Sound

Notes: This includes the entire Paradiso gig, including the two encores. You can tell it has come from different recordings of the gig and that it is copied from vinyl, again because of some pops.

1. Passover
2. Wilderness
3. Digital
4. Day Of The Lords
5. Insight
6. New Dawn Fades

15.Atrocity Exhibition
Notes: Same as the Gruftgesaenge and Means To An End, but better sound then the latter. Missing the encores however. Great pictures, put out by X Rekords and even gives the following address (worth a try perhaps):
X Rekords, 27 Rue Des Marechaux, Nancy 5400 France.

14.Atmosphere
Notes: Slightly better sound then the copy below, except does not include Disorder. No pitures of the band, although has an interesting picture of a "gothboy" on the back. Definitly one of my favourite JD gigs!

5. Heart And Soul
6. Shadowplay
7. Transmission
8. Disorder
9. Warsaw

12.She's Lost Control
Notes: An excellent sounding cd of an excellent gig. Because of some sound problems(the bass kept quiting), Ian is most talkative.

1. Wilderness
2. 24 Hours
3. The Eternal

1. Sound Of Music
2. Wilderness
3. Colony

The Tv special includes interviews with New Order, Tony Wilson, and others involved with the band. The Love Will Tear Us Apart video is different from the one in Here Are The Young Men in that the music is live instead of dubbed over.
