" Judy=positve; Mary=negative.
In English slang, names of people have many
meanings attached. It's different from the
double personality of Jekyll and Hyde,
but there are times where people are positive,
and times when they are not,
We want to put this in our music."

~Yoshihito~

In the year 1992,
Judy and Mary is founded by Yuki and Yoshihito.
Takuya and Kota were supporting musicians who
joined JAM as official members the following year.
They were a punk band,...and they still is,
only adding some pop life into their music as they grow.

Punk influences are edvidently present in their first
album "J.A.M" released in 1994. With song titles
like "Judy is a Tank Girl" and "Glamour Punks",
The Ramones must be their major influence.

4 years and 5 albums down the road,
they've added some pop life into their music,
without compromising their punk influences.
Takuya's anguish guitars and Yuki's girlish
vocals are still the trademark of the band.
No drum machines. No samples.

Their 1998 release "Pop Life" stands out as
the richest and most layered album to date.
"Radio-friendly Punk"-
that's how I describe it.
