The Tree of Life
Oct
2000 - I decided it was time to build a new labyrinth. I was not
sure of what it was supposed to look like, only that it would incorporate
the Tree of Life as its center. At first I thought I would start
all over and build this labyrinth on another part of my property.
I spent three days clearing out cacti and rabbit bush in an area 100 by
100 feet. This part of the property is down in a depression wheras
the first labyrinths were on the top of a small hill.
 Nov
2000 - I thought about it for a few weeks then decided to replace the old
Labyrinth
with this new one. I have started taking apart some of the rings
and rearranging the stones into the 11 circles representing the spheres
of the Tree of Life and the paths between them.
Dec 2000 - I stopped working on the new labyrinth because
it just does not "feel" right. I do not have a plan for how the project
will come together yet. I am waiting for the stones to "talk" to
me.
Jan
2001 - Finally, I saw how to make the new labyrinth in a dream and was
able to draw a plan for it. Right now I am waiting for the snow to
melt and the ground to thaw so that I can get back to work.
I will be going
out on the Spring Equinox to sit and watch the sunrise to mark the alignment
for the main axis of the tree.
I realize that
my plan is not a "normal" Tree of Life. There are a number of different
representations from different schools. I chose to use this one because
it is a composite of all. People can walk what they know to be the
"true" paths and ignore the extra pathways.
Mar
2001 - The Spring Equinox - Several of us watched the sunrise and marked
the center line of the design so that we could get started. A cloud
happened to be in the right place at the right time so that it looked as
ifthe top of the mountain, where the sun was rising, was on fire.
 Mar
31, 2001 - The turns in the outer rings and the central and outside paths
of theTree of Life have been put in place.
 April
15, 2001 - Easter Morning - I have finished moving all the stones.
Yesterday I decided to change my original design for the Tree of Life by
eliminating a number of the pathways. Instead I set upright some
of the larger stones (white dots) inside the triangular areas to mark "hidden"
missing pathways. Right now I think that this labyrinth is completed
except for some gardening work. I have started planting clover and
wild flowers in all of the brownish-red areas of the Tree.
