Happy Mother's Day Mom

August 26, 1930-May 21, 1967

How much I love you I can't say,
It's more than words can hold.
You're all at once my rich, red clay,
My potter and my mold.
Yours the words that shaped my voice,
The spirit within mine.
Yours the will that shaped my choice,
My fortune, and my sign.

How lucky I was to have had you
At the core of me!
Wise and good, you always knew
Just what I could be.

And so I came to be someone
Whom I could be proud of.
For this I give my swollen sum
Of gratitude and love.

My mother loved lilacs. Everytime I smell them it reminds me of her. She grew up at the beach and loved to swim with her children. She had 7 children. She also enjoyed playing Rummy with her kids, eating saltines with peanut butter on them, The Ed Sullivan Show, Kate Smith, Andy Williams and old black and white Hollywood musicals.

Mom and me when I was a baby.

Her life was not as glorious as some,
Devoted to her seven children,
Taken up by quiet tedium.
What's left when dreams are scattered to the wind.

She loved too well, perhaps, and fought too hard
To make a marriage work that wasn't right.
She was, of all bright loveliness, a shard
Struck off to bring our lives the gift of light.

There are those whose lives are shaped by love;
Whose pleasures, rich and full, are found in giving;
Who make our wild hearts bloom and passions move
Into measured fields made lush by living.

Without her all the gold's gone from the day;
She will be missed far more than we can say.

Mom, Dad and their three oldest: Jim, Cheryl and Roy. Her other children are Marilyn, Donna, Diane and Kathy.

Maybe love put sunshine in your heart,
Using light to leaven your long day.
Maybe it was hard, but from the start,
'Twixt blight and bloom the sunshine had its way.
Sing, then, of mother's love, and your delight
Descended down to me, that I might be
Alive with sunshine, bountiful and bright,
Yet yearning still for what you gave to me.

The Story of Mother's Day

Mom as a teenager. I would have loved to have known her then.

A Mother's Day Fairy Tale
by Cheryl Semones

On August 25, 1930 an Angel summoned my mothers spirit. As my Mom sat before the Angel, the Angel said to her "I have a very important job that I need you to do". I want you to go to the earth and bear 7 children in a very short time. You will have just about 1 child every year. You will only have 37 years on this earth so it must be done quickly. These seven children will be important to the earth. Mother's spirit said "Tell me about these children". The Angel replied.
One son will marry into a readymade family but will treat them all as if they are his own. He will become Father to them. There will be many girls in his family, daughters, grandaughters and greatgranddaughters. He will be their example of how a man should treat a woman so that they will always expect to be treated well by others. He will also spread the word that God is the most important being in their lives.
Another son will struggle for many years but he will finally adopt a beautiful newborn baby that is addicted to crack. He will be up with her night after night until she gets through it and becomes a beautiful happy child. He will show her what a real Dad is like, a Dad that will delight in her every accomplishment and cry when she is in sorrow. He will also teach her about God.
A daughter will grow to be a lover of animals and all her life she will help any animal in need. She will also be very attached to the earth and will always make things grow. She will love people with all her heart. She will be a painter and a poet and she will teach people about God's love by her unconditional love for others.
Another daughter will have two beautiful children of her own and many children from a family that she will marry into. She will make them all her own. She will be the matriarch of this family and will always be there when her children need her. She will show them what a mothers love is all about, the sweet love and the tough love. Her direction in their live will make all the difference for them. She will teach them how to love their children, and sehe will also teach them about God.
Another daughter will adopt a little girl who has a lot of problems. These problems will go on for years but this mother will stand by her child like a rock, no matter what. She will give her whole heart to this child, even when it is breaking, and will always talk to her daughter about God.
Another daughter will have 2 girls of her own who contribute to the earth. This daughter has a wonderful sense of humor, is a very hard worker, and is generous of heart. She will raise two daughters who are confident free spirits and who are just like their mother.
Her youngest daughter will have one daughter of her own. She will know great love from her mother and her mother will teach her great confidence in herself. She will learn that there is nothing a woman can't do because she will watch her mother work hard and realize her dreams. She will also learn to be outgoing, friendly and trusting because her mother is all of these things. This youngest daughter will also teach her child about God and then her daughter will carry on to teach many of her friends about God.
After telling Mom's spirit about all of the children, the Angel asked Mom if she would be willing to take this job even though she would not be on the earth for very long. Mom jumped up and said "Yes! I so want this job! How exciting it would be to be a part of their lives. To be able to help them get started on the earth. "When can I go?", Mom asked. The Angel said "You can go tomorrow. August 26, 1930 will be your first day on earth. And then the Angel said "Do well little spirit and when you are done, come home to me for I will miss you." So Mom came and did what she was meant to do, and then in 1967 went back to her Angel. As she came before her Angel, her Angel said "Look behind you". As mom turned around she noticed that she now also had wings and had become an Angel. She was pleased that she had done a good job serving God and had gained her Angel Wings. She turned once again to her Angel and said "So what's next?"
