Junior Showmanship- A History

The idea of junior came in existance over half a centry ago, when Leonard Brumby Sr. Saw may children excluded from dog show activites! So to get them involved Mr. Brumby Sr. Thought of the Children's Handling Class!

the classes were....

Class "A": Boys under 14 years of age. Class "B": Girls under 14 years of age.

After the first year Werstvury Kennel Club held it agian in 1933 Westminster also followed that year!

In 1951 the name Children's Handling Class was changed to the name we all know Junior Showmnship or it's other names such as Junior Handling , Juniors and so on!

The AKC reconized Junior Showmanship in 1971, and worte the rule book!

Well folks, my typing fingers are geatly weary!! So I must stop! PLUS I have a handling class to get ready for, and I also have to groom 4 dogs!!!!
