Hi friends, thank you for taking time to stop by
and look at my feeble attempt at making a page.
The main point of it, is to get my feelings, on
record, about how much I Love the Earth, and
how it hurts me to see it being destroyed. So
if I get carried away about it please forgive me.
Also I want to show my respect for the American
Indians, I have Crow blood, from my Mothers side
I am not trying to be anything I am not, I simply
want to show my admiration and respect.

I respect and admire the American Indian people. The lies and deceipt they were subjected to in the past is a shameful part of history. If we could all treat Mother Earth as they treated her, this country would be a great place to live. If all people could love and respect each other, and the environment, we would have no crime, and a beautiful, clean earth to live upon....

There are many people who haven't explored the possibility thay they are destroying thier own lives. They don't believe that the Earth is a living organism. They live in the greed of the now, you see--they're not even thinking of future generations; they're not even thinking of their grandchildren. They're thinking of how much money they can make right now. And this government supports this lack of consciousness. Anybody that spends ten million dollars on an inauguration party in the shadow of the worst ghetto of this country, where little children die of malnutrition today--I mean really that's inexcusable. I don't see how this country can continue to support this lack of concern for the land and life. I believe in 'of the people, by the people, and for the people', but with the way it's set up now we have 'of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich'. That's what it is!

There are many beautiful poems written by American Indians Along the way, I will share some of my favorites with you. One aspect of American Indian poetry that always captivates me is the deep meanings and spirituallity of the poems. Here is one to ponder.

====The Turquoise Horse====

I am the Sun's son.
I sit upon a turquoise horse
at the opening of the sky

My horse walks on terrifying hooves
and stands on the upper circle of the rainbow
with a sunbeam in it's mouth
for a bridle.

My horse circles all the people of the earth.

Today I ride on his broad back
and he is mine;
Tomorrow he will belong to another.

===== WAKE UP =====

Our lives are part of a sacred web in which every-
thing is connected. When we poison the air, the
water, or the soil with our lifestyles and
technologies, even just a little bit....
WE ARE POISONING OURSELVES!!!

h

I plead with you not only to respect the rights of
other human beings, but the rights of all beings of
Creation. The people who live upon this planet need
to break with the narrow concept of human liberation
as something which needs to be extended to the whole
of the Natural World. What is needed is the liberation
of all things that support life-the air, the waters,
the trees-all things that support the sacred web of Life.

In our times, we have the privilege and responsibility
of creating a new culture, especially since our modern
culture has proved itself unworkable. This is true not
just for communism, capitalism also has many tragic
failures, especially evident in the ravaging of the
Earth, and in the many thousands who have been left
hungry and homeless. Equally tragic is the fact that
even among those who are safe, warm, and well fed,
many thousands lead aimless lives.

In the beginning we were told that the human beings
that walk around on the Earth have been provided with
all the things necessary for life. We are instructed
to carry love for one another, and show a great respect
for all the beings of the Earth. We were shown that
our wellbeing depends on the wellbeing of Nature.

====WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO THE EARTH====

It is in the darkness that light is seen
It is in the heart that love is felt
It is in the mind that wisdom is known
It is in the spirit that God is found
~Diane Wolfsong~

It is all spirit,it is all connected, If you pollute
the water, you are going to see that things in the
water are dead, because the water has killed it. No
more life. And look at the trees. Every time it rains
it's supposed to be pure water, not acid rain. The
pure water we used to have long ago was good for the
trees; It would hang on them in drops. As of 1996,
there were over sixteen hundred dead lakes in Canada.
And many of the forests have been visably weakened
by the acid rain. Those are frightening, statistics.
We must all do our part to bring the Earth back to
the way it once was, or at least stop the killing of it.

It's time for the caretakers of the earth to arise,
and awaken. In Buddhism, the Lotus Sutra talks about
that: 'Caretakers of the Earth, awaken and arise
and let things be good upon the Earth.' The whole
essence of American Indian teachings is to know
that everything is our relative, and to be
caretakers of the Earth, and one another.

I would now like to share with you a poem written by Wanbli Awanyankapi"Eagles Watch Over him" He is the Chairman of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, this poem was written by him several years ago...

====Wonderful and Unseen====

I found him sitting on a river bank, all cold and alone. It was raining hard, and he was soaked to the bone.
His appearance was ragged and dirty, a pitiful human being Yet there was something about him, something wonderful
and unseen.
He called me over to his humble lean-to tent.
He gave me his last bowl of beans and said
"From Our Creator, I have been sent.
I bring the truth to you, it's for you to receive,
so you may battle with the one who does Deceive.
I have been to the cities, the towns small and great,
but they have not listened, they won't hear till it's
too late.
Now I must go to the Spirit Kingdom when the sun rises
on the day,
you my son will be the last to hear what I have to say". And we talked all through the night of many wonderful
things,
of Love, Wisdom, Spirituality, Truth, and the Joy that
Our Creator brings.
And finally when the sun showed it's face,
he laid down and died.
A feeling of sadness came over me and I cried!
Oh wise man you have given me the truth in just one
night,
and now I must carry it, carry with all my might!
So I gave away all my riches, my money, my mansion
on the hill.
To the poor and needy, and spread the truth to man
until.
He found me sitting on a river bank, all cold and
alone.
It was raining hard now, and I am soaked to the bone!
My appearance is ragged and dirty, I'm a pitiful human
being,
yet tonight, before the last sunrise of my life,
I will give him something Spiritual, something
wonderful and unseen.

The message I carry on behalf of the Earth is
really quite basic and simple: If your're not
part of the solution, you're a part of the problem
There is no middle road. I don't think we can
destroy the Earth, but I think the Earth can destroy
us. It's really stupid for us to continue a path
of trying to consciously destroy our life-support
system: the lungs of the Mother which is the Brazilian
forest, and the Heart of the Mother, which is the
Four Corners area of the Southwest. It's stupid!

We call the Four Corners area the Heart of the Mother
Earth. It's bounded by four breathing mountains,
and protected by Rock Crystal Boy, and Rock Crystal
Girl. I'm going to give you the English names for
the mountains because the Apache names take two
weeks to say. They are the Mount Blanca in Colorado
Mount Taylor in New Mexico, Mount Hesperus, near the
Colorado-Utah border, and the San Francisco Peaks
in Arizona, we call this land the Heart of the Mother.

"Shaman" I would define Shamanism, by saying it is Life--honoring all Life. It is a path of personal development, for the healing of the Earth. It includes and honors all of life, the trees, the rocks, the waters, as well as the animals, and other people.

Shamanism is an old tradition all over the Earth, a tradition that can take you all the way to God. In most Tribal traditions, love is the foundation of the Shaman's power, love for Mother Earth, Father Sky, Grandmother Ocean, and all the people. We need many many more inhabitants on Our Mother Earth, to have the same ideas and concepts as the Shaman, I think we need to have some Shaman in all of us.
