The students here at the University of Washington have put together a file sharing network for those living on campus. This networked is accessed via DC++ and allows faster dowloading than can be found over kazaa. Here is a step-by-step guide to setting up dc++.

- Visit www.sourceforge.net or download DC++ here.
- Run the installer for DC++, following the displayed prompts
- Run DC++.
- Once in DC++, click on "File"/"Settings".
- Select a username and click on "Passive".

- Click on the "Downloads" tab.
- Under "Default download directory" enter "C:\Downloads\" - make sure you have the '\' at the end.

- Select the newly added hub, and click the "Connect" button.
- A new window will open. It consists of three panes, a main chat window on the left, a list of connected users on the right, and an entry line on the bottom.
- You're Done!
- To search for media, click on the magnifying glass on the toolbar or select "File"/"Search", and enter your search parameters.
- And remember, it doesn't hurt to leave DC++ open all the time, in fact, the rest of us would appreciate it! (And it doesn't take up any memory.)
