Who are
we?
W.I.N. was started by a group of UEL trainee clinical psychologists who
are interested in political activism.
What is this group all about?
We are not willing to sit
around and wait till we are qualified, because we believe we can make a real
difference...now. Not only are we in the unique
position of being in the same place at the same time, with similar
ideologies, but we have not yet been corrupted by years in the mental health
system!
What do we do?
We are a forum to debate political issues in
psychology, and hopefully a platform to do something about it.
What
does the name mean?
Mental health is often
described as 'Abnormal Psychology'. In categorising people as being
mentally ill we compare them to a hypothetical 'norm' - a sample of people
that makes up the majority of the population, who we describe as 'normal'.
Which side of the line you fall may make a huge difference.
