From Sioux Falls we began heading home with few planned stops as we now needed to return home after three weeks on the road. We rolled eastward along I-90 near the very southern edge of Minnesota. Ernie of course noticed that the road map showed a cave a short way off the interstate. So a tour of the cave in Mystery Cave State Park was the next stop - lunch and refueling aside. This was a small but colorful cave. Looking Lake Room Flowstone Rimstone Leaving the cave, we called ahead to make plans to stop overnight with Jackie's sister in Rockford, Illinois. On the way, we realized we were passing by the famed Wisconsin Dells and no time to stop. Oh well, a reason to return to Wisconsin. So on to Rockford. We enjoyed our stay with Jackie's sister and a nice visit with her sister's daughter. Then it was off early the next morning in the home stretch for home. We will always remember this great trip and the scenery, fun, and friendships along the way. Click Home to return to the first page of this site. |
