Benjamin Wheatstone Heumann

So now that you have the stats on me, you probably want to know what the Wheatstone is all about. Charles Wheatstone was an English physicist, architect, and inventor. He known most for the Wheatstone Bridge, an electronic cicuit. He also invented the English Concertina, a bellow, multi reed instrument that my father plays and composes on. My father happened to be playing his Wheatstone concertina while thinking of a name. And now you know the story.

Besides having a interesting middle name, I enjoy going to the middle of nowhere. For as long as I can remember, all of my family vacations have included driving very long distances, camping in a two-man Eureka tent in national forests, and looking at the local geology (I hate rocks). In high school, I lived on 40 acres on marsh land and could see only one neighbor. Much of my time was spent whatching birds, following animal tracks, and doing habitat burns. Now that I live in the wonderful city of Montreal, I feel the need to get out to a place where I can here the snow fall like I do at home. I'm an executive member of the McGill Outing/Outdoors Club and I try to cross country ski at least every weekend. While in the Montreal, I like to here live music, cook good food, and have a beer with my friends.

So where am I going with this? Well, after completing my B.Sci here at McGill, I would like to join the Peace Corps, go to grad school, explore some of the world, and eventually, probably end up in acadamia as I'm a sucker for field work. What is better than increasing our understanding of the earth, skiing and being in the middle of nowhere all at the same time? In my book, nothing.
