"TURN OFF THE LIGHT!!!"

get STUPIFIED

saturday evening i was playing counter-strike on my fav map de_dust. i was a terrorist. my teammates planned on rushing the tunnel or "storming the front". and my screen, it couldn't get any brighter. i had to turn on my flashlight in order to see the counter-terrorists. it's a rarely used piece of equipment. and here's the funny part. i ran into the dark tunnel with my flashlight on. and i hear this chinese guy on my team shouting into his mic, "TURN OFF THE LIGHT!!!" LOL meanwhile everyone's blasting each other's heads off. it was hilarious lol.

the server underwent a map change (the same one). it didn't load since the server was full. 3 minutes later i logged back on and declared, "IM BACK FASGS!" back is the "spice of life". but absent is his consistency doing poorly in the third round. plus everyone had to endure 2 imbeciles engaging in cyber lol. i mean get an instant messenger you sexually depraved twits. this is COUNTER-STRIKE. not some "sex" chat :: shakes his head :: this is one of the reasons why girls don't play cs. because of jackasses who hit off on them the first chance they get.

bring it

there was a period when i was sick of cs and played jedi knights ii: jedi outcast (also for pc) instead. a time when i thought jedi was better than cs because you can do battle with light sabers and mimic the matrix movie moves...but not anymore. cs is still the king. i re-installed it. i got my won id back. i'm playing without cheats. i'm better as a player but the lag, a recent development has been holding me back. overall, i'm a better player getting double digit kills. 17-11 28-10 is currently my best score. now i know how to use grenades too lol. :D

updates: i've been meaning to write up a handful of movie reviews but every time i begin to type my mouse cursor finds itself over the cs icon on my desktop. and i click it lol. :Þ ahh they can wait.

pro-arrest policy = fewer murders by doug lepard

opinion (article) courtesy of the province...

the opinion piece on domestic violence that ran in the province this week raised some interesting points, but also perpetuated some common myths. before getting to that, a few facts.

there is ample evidence that pro-arrest/prosecution policies in spousal violence cases save lives, reduce recidivism, and contribute to a better-informed response by the criminal justice system.

since pro-arrest policies have been implemented across canada, the rate of spousal homicides has been reduced dramatically. statistics canada reports that the spousal homicide rate for women declined by 37 per cent between 1991-1999, noting "innovations in policy".

statscan also found that a parallel decrease in the most severe forms of spousal assault may be partly attributable to "mandatory charging policies and improved training of police officers."

nearly half the spousal assault charges laid in b.c. result in a stay of proceedings. some commentators have implied that many cases are being stayed because there are no validity to the allegations in the first place. it's common for columnists to misinterpreted b.c.'s policy, claiming police lay charges "whenever officers respond to a call of domestic violence," and "even if no evidence of wrongdoing exists."

the reality is NO provincial policy can supersede the threshold set out for police in the criminal code, which limits officers to arresting for an assault only when they have met the legal test of "reasonable grounds" to believe the crime occurred.

the policy only instructs police to arrest after they ARE satisfied reasonable grounds exist, rather than use their discretion not to arrest. an uncorroborated statement rarely provides reasonable grounds.

the result is that about a quarter of the domestic assault allegations made to vancouver police do not contain sufficient evidence to even recommend charges.

crown only approves a charge when it meets their even higher threshold of "substantial likelihood of conviction."

no, the problem isn't the veracity of the original allegation, but that victims drop out of the process. (while false allegations are sometimes made, police hae a duty to investigate to ensure charges aren't recommended without sufficient grounds.)

so the logical answer isn't to try to reduce the number of charges -- the historical increase of which may well be an indication that victims are more confident the justice system can help them.

one of several solutions is to increase the likelihood that cases can be successfully prosecuted by improving police investigations and enhancing support for victims so they are willing to participate.

since 1997, the vancouver police dept., in partnership with family services of greater vancouver, has shown the effectiveness of this strategy by pairing specialized police investigators with "community counsellors" in a domestic violence unit.

the results have been dramatic. cases handled by the dvu were less than half as likely to result in a stay of proceedings, and were more than twice as likely to result in a conviction, compared to the average for all vpd cases (similar to the provincial average).

throughout all this, it's important to keep in mind that homicide statistics and hospital records show consequences for female victims of domestic violence are usually much more serious.

inspector doug lepard helped set up and run the vpd's domestic violence and criminal harassment unit from 1996 to 2000.

C. O. L.

"crap outta luck" pretty much explains how my job interview went yesterday. it was at a movie theatre. it figures since i watch so many movies lol...i was like mel gibson in we were soldiers. i knew where i had to go but i was ill-prepared when i got there. not even the briefing with my friend over the phone the evening before helped. the questions the interviewer asked were totally different and went too much into detail. i made 2 pivotal mistakes. i should've chosen the usher position instead of concession and i answered a basic math question wrong. a basic math question!!! lol...

i was treading water desperately keeping myself afloat. there was this instance during the interview where i unconsciously put on my best michael keaton batman impression lol. i tried to get my point across to her like how micheal keaton tried to out himself as batman to kim basinger in the movie. it was exactly like that scene lol. i was staring into space trying to picture my answer and doing these telling hand gestures lol. my life is...complex lol. batman is my number one all-time fav movie only next to spider-man. both cinematic masterpieces. seen them tons. i should really review gotham's dark knight/caped crusader sometime.

i've already written this job opportunity off. i mean who would hire someone who can't even get a basic math question right? i just panicked and didn't expect her to ask that type of question thus screwing up royal. the thing about interviews is that they're based on first impressions. you only get one chance to convince the interviewer(s) that you're the best. oh well, it's not like the first time i get the shaft for being overqualified. the first time was at the library. i survived the shortlist, then did well on the testing period and got an interview....but, there's always a but lol, i wasn't articulate enough in it. i was the perfect candidate for the entry position. no doubt about it. shelving books is like stocking shelves plus i was in my highschool library club. man, why can't they be like that mega supermarket chain and hire me right after the interview lol. but i'm not in a hurry to land a part-time job.

as far as i'm concerned, it's both their (the library and theatre's) losses for not hiring me. i am the best there is, the best there was, and the best that there ever will be!!! :D

i don't blame employers for not hiring me. oh yeah, there are a lot of stupid "people" out there who wouldn't recognize their ass from a hole in the ground. fortunately i'm not one of those "people". :D

guess what everyone?

i'm a ninja turtle!!! :D oh yeah, i've been eating hella many pizza lately. different types of toppings. pizza's always been my fav. but at this rate, it could be my least lol. me and my friends grab lunch/dinner at this pizza parlor downtown. very affordable. a dollar a slice (they're huge). similarly, a dollar a pop (ha vanilla coke tastes like schweppes cream soda). meals don't come any better. :D

off to the bowling alley!!! it's official. i suck at 5 pin bowling. i've lost 5 straight games in our last 2 visits grrR...probably because there weren't any chicks...lol i mean girls!!! :D weren't many girls around. but you know what's funny? i didn't notice how cute the chinese girl who works there was until our third visit, which is the second time i saw her. ha she reminds me of someone so very cute :: smiles ::

yesterday i saw this hot chinese girl on the bus. my eyes just zoomed in on her breasts. i didn't even want to look at their reflection in the window but my eyes kept wandering off to there. her body was somewhat like christina's. petite and defined chest. an asian christina. :D before this i saw a short pretty chinese girl at the night market...blondes aren't the only girls who fascinate me anymore. :Þ

btw i was sitting in the bath one day and channel surfing when i came across a pretty girl. i was like :O stop the presses. who is that? a girl like her would put steam in a man's strides lol. she's kirsten storms!!! belle black on days.

ooh purrrdy :o

ps. i'm having pizza right now. except it's last night's domino's lol. heated up and ready for me to arghhh... :O
