A prime requirement for people racing motorcycles in Australia is that they must be insured at all times against personal injury, and injury to others, and damage to property.  This is achieved by participants joining motorcycle clubs affiliated with Motorcycling Australia or its subsidiary in each state, and obtaining competition licences.  Alternatively race events may be insured by other facilitating bodies such as Australian Auto Sport Alliance, which has its insurance underwritten by Lloyds of London..  Where Motorcycling Australia  had its beginnings as a competitors union, Australian Auto Sport Alliance is a consortium of motor race circuit owners.  Which ever body facilitates race events, the result is theoretically the same for the competitor - he/she has insurance cover, and has been tested for competence as a competitor.

All motor race circuits are regularly inspected and risk assessed  by competent engineers for safety, then licenced by the facilitating bodies.
