     My name is Ciara Johnson-Mercado and I am currently a student at NHMCC. I am married and a mother of four; my stepsons are 13 and 12. My two sons are 6 and 1-1/2. I was born in Galveston, Texas and was raised in the Beaumont Area. I moved to The Conroe Area in 1995 but shortly moved back to Beaumont in 1998. I returned to Conroe in 2001 and have lived here ever since.

    I am a singer and a published poet. I was in the choir at school from the fourth grade to the eleventh. I also play the clarinet. In 1999, I was in the Texas State All Regional Choir and received high marks in the U.I.L. and Solo and Ensemble competitions. I started writing poetry when I was 10 yrs old. My first poem was published at the age of 12. (Where Are My Friends) I have been awarded and recognized nationally for my poetry. I love music, art and reading and I love being a mom. A great website for parents is www.parenthood.com.  Being a parent is a great experience and I can only hope that when they are grown they will be able to look back and say “Wow!” “My mom was really awesome!” That there will mean to me that all my hard work of raising them was successful and that they really appreciate me for all my hard work!
