Giraffes

Giraffes live on the grassy plains in Africa. They are the tallest animals on earth. Their legs are taller than grown-ups. Giraffes like to eat leaves. They are herbivores. That means they don't eat meat. Giraffes have very long necks. They can eat leaves at the very top of tall trees. This helps them live in the grassy plain where there are many other animals that eat leaves. The other animals cannot reach the tops of trees so only giraffes can eat the top leaves. A giraffe can run fast. They can run about 35 miles an hour. That is about as fast as your school bus goes in your neighborhood. Giraffes live for about 25 years.
