Beth Allen

Beth Allen was born on May 28th 1984. She has lived in Auckland for most of her life – other than staying in Wellington to film The Tribe and The Legend of William Tell. She has one brother and one sister.

She began acting when she was nine years old, which would be 1993. She appeared in stage productions of Pinocchio and Hairy Maclary at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. She also became a member of the PAS Children's theatre.

Her first screen role, other than several commercials, was a guest role as Eva in an episode of the drama series Riding High. I don't know very much about this show – any information would be greatly appreciated.

Beth went on to appear in some movies. She played the young Julie in 'The Ugly'.

In 1997 she got another job: an ongoing part in the Cloud 9 series 'The Legend of William Tell' as Princess Vara. Her talent was already shining through even though she didn't have as much to say as the other cast members. She was 13 at the time. This was followed by a feature part Cloud 9's 'William Shatner: A Twist in the Tale'. This revolved around ex-Star Trek actor William Shatner narrating each episode to a group of children. Beth's episode is called 'The Green Dress'. To read Cloud 9's synopsis of the episode, click here.

Around this time, Beth auditioned for a role in 'Xena: Warrior Princess' (in which I am a major fan of too!). Due to her talent, she got it – she played a dual role in the season 4 episode Daughter of Pomira. This was the most high profile show she has been in yet as it is a hit in the USA and she had chance to act alongside one of New Zealand's most famous people – Lucy Lawless.

Almost immediately after that, she got her biggest job yet – a starring role in the Cloud 9 series 'The Tribe'.

Beth stayed in the cast for 6 months – series 1, but as school exams beckoned, she left to study for them. Cloud 9 killed Amber off in a dramatic beginning to series 2. Her favourite subject was history but she did not get on well with Latin – it "fails to excite me." She must have done well on the exams, because she returned to film series 3 of The Tribe in her school holidays.

Beth has finished filming series 3. She spent Christmas '99 and 2000 with her family in their beach house. She describes her Christmas Day's as being "very low key" – she just hangs out with her family.
