Before it aired, M*A*S*H was considered by some to be just another gimmick to pair up two already popular televioion features-doctors and wars. Neither the public nor the network was prepared for high quality entertainment that also dealt with serious subjects. This was taken driectly from "The Complete Book of M*A*S*H"
