Cindy Taylor: Born to Travel, Afraid to Fly

Cindy Taylor is the best thing to come out of Paraguay since, um, let's see here. Well, since most Americans couldn't find Paraguay on a map, it's safe to assume she's the best thing to come out of Paraguay, period.

As the winner of E!'s national Wild On Host Search, the Miami-based model will be filling the ample, er, shoes of Brooke Burke this fall, in a new season of the party-round-the-world travel show.

The bilingual native's first foreign destination will be Thailand, though she may be a little nervous getting there.

Journalist P.J. O'Rourke once wrote that Paraguay "is nowhere and famous for nothing." Rebuttal?
He said that? Oooh. Things do happen in Paraguay. It's a small, small country, laid back. People there are very patriotic in terms of staying in their own country. If they have a choice, most would not move. There's a lot of things wild about Asunción. People start drinking there at noon, and they don't stop.

In your Wild On bio, you listed that you had no greatest fear. Really? What about heights? Spiders? Clowns?
I actually said, "I'm not going to tell you. You'll use it against me." I'm afraid of flying. [Shocked pause.] Yeah. I know. Even though my passport is full. I even had to have pages added. But every time I'm in the air, I just don't feel safe.

But you're going to be flying around the world!
It's perfect, isn't it? I figure if I don't overcome the fear with this job, I never will.

So, how do you say Wild On in Spanish?
"Wild" is literally silvestre, but that wouldn't work. There's no exact translation. I have a friend in Paraguay, and when I was trying out, she knew what the show was! I've been in major magazines, and they never see me there, so I was really surprised.

I got excited when I knew everyone there was watching it. When I heard that, I really wanted the job. They subtitle it. Sometimes they give shows a Spanish name that doesn't sound right.

Like Beautiful Woman Dances with Naked People?
Yes! Maybe Vamos a Ponerle Loco [Let's Go Get Crazy], but I'm not sure.

What was your first Wild On experience like?
I live part of the year in New York, so it was in the Hamptons. We went to this beach club, where people go, relax, get wasted. I had a really good time. It was a little cold. I was in a bikini, and people were wondering, "Why are you in a bikini? It's freezing."

Is it hard to get people to talk to you while they're partying?
No. People are very into it. I don't think I ran into someone who didn't want to talk. People are not ashamed to say things on camera--or do things on camera.

Especially if they're drunk.
That helps.

Why is Wild On so popular?
I think because it shows people so many places. Everyone is so into the clubs they go to. Of course, the wild things people do help. People all want to watch that.

Especially if they're half-naked.
That helps.
