"Canadian Artist Shines"
Interview By: Jeff McIntyre
Here at Ambience Recording studios' one can see many artists from past and present. One to One once recorded here along with Eight Seconds. In the studio on my left is Steve Richards recording songs for his upcoming e.p, we chatted for a few minutes during break time.
Jeff: With the brief tour for Strangers success seems to be in your favor, what is the next step for you?
Steve: Playing music and meeting the fans, the tour has been good so far and when this recording session is complete go out and do more!
Jeff: With previous stars that once recorded here, are you worried?
Steve: No, not at all. I am hoping to overcome the shadow of canadian artists that vanish after a couple of l.p's.
Jeff: How many tracks will there be on your release?
Steve: You are looking at about six songs, maybe more.
Jeff: What music do you enjoy listening to?
Steve: All types, not into just one type. I listen to Ritchie Valens, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Damian to list a few, but more all around.
Jeff: You sang on this tour 'Come On Let's Go', will that be a release since the popularity of 'LaBamba'?
Steve: No intentions on releasing it, You can sing someone's song live without permission, but releasing it would be a different matter.
Jeff: If you could get the rights, would you release it?
Steve: Maybe, but I like releasing my own material. Although I do record others as well, so one would have to see.
Jeff: I was told that your favorite movie is LaBamba?
Steve: Yes, I must say it is, I have seen it around 100 times or so, love the music and the fact that Ritchie Valens has a movie, is great!!
Jeff: During the Bill Whyte concert, it was only you and your guitarist, is this the future for Steve?
Steve: I would love to do and accoustic album, although this early in my career, it's best not too.
Jeff: The young lady at the concert, is she someone special?
Steve: She is my girlfriend, we are having fun as a couple.
Jeff: Will she sing with you on any of the recordings?
Steve: Maybe, we will have to see, want to know her name?
Jeff: Yes, perhaps a picture together as well?
Steve: Her name is.....ahhh, gotta go.
Jeff: For all the fans who read this, are you single?
Steve: I have a girlfriend, so not single, but not married either. Her name is Pamela
Jeff: Thank you for your time.
Steve: Thanks it's been a blast speaking with you!
