Steve Reevis was born and raised on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, Montana the 4th of 6 siblings. He graduated from Flandreau High School and attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas where he received a degree in arts.

His first movie job was as a stunt rider in the 1987 film War Party. His first acting roles, in 1988 was in the Danny DeVito/Arnold Schwarzenegger film Twins. Steve’s non-speaking role as Cheyenne Warrior #1 in the highly acclaimed Dances With Wolves in 1989 brought face recognition for the young actor and helped to open doors for additional roles. In 1993 he was cast as the Apache scout, Chato, in Geronimo, an American Legend, another role that brought recognition to Steve as an actor. He is probably most recognized for his 1995 Indian lead role in Last of the Dogmen with Tom Berenger.

1996 Steve received an award from First Americans in the Arts (FAITA) for his supporting roles in both the critically acclaimed movie Fargo and in the made for television movie Crazy Horse. In 2004 he repeated this honor for his work on the ABC series Line of Fire.

More recently Steve has appeared in Ron Howard’s 2003 film The Missing, in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard, and in the 2005 TNT mini-series Into the West. He also appeared on the ABC series Bones in 2005.
