This
site is dedicated to finding long lost Littermates of our beloved retired
racing Greyhounds. The List began in July 2001, while I was trying
unsuccessfully to find out if our adopted Greyhound, MPS Gideon’s (now
Champion) Littermates were available for adoption. Since then, the List has
grown to include 741 families and over 1400 pups are also looking
for Littermates. This List includes adoptive families living throughout the

I wrote to the GREYHOUND-L looking for folks who were looking for
Littermates. As folks sent me their
pup(s) info, I quickly realized I was going to require help. So began the Littermates’ List Team - as I
researched, Vivian inputted data, Myke was there to offer a lifetime of
Greyhound knowledge and before I knew it, Laura was also an e-mail away with
her lifetime of Greyt knowledge as well.
Jennifer and Penny, are each very involved with
Greyhound Adoption Groups and have not only updated us on “where” are they, but
they have also spread the word about the Littermates’ List. Special thanks to the Littermates’ List Team
and to everyone on the List looking for their “Littermates”. Richard joined the
team last year and is representing us at various events around the country, he attended the Great Lakes Event, Dewey Beach
(along with Laura, Jennifer and Penny) as well as attending
To find and reunite Littermates and their adoptive families. Since Greyhound
Litters are raised together for the first 18 months or more of their lives, it
stands to reason, they would not easily forget each
other. Unlike other breeds of dogs or
cats who are only with their Littermates for the first 6 or 8 weeks of their
lives. We will not be including half
sibs on this web site. Although half
sibs may share the same sire or dam, they are not littermates and therefore did
not share the first 18 months or so of life together. As of July
18/03 74 families have found Littermates. (3 in three
Litters found each other) since this site went online
We
encourage everyone, those who have adopted an ex-racer, adoption groups, NGA
Owners, racetrack adoption centers and especially the trainers who know their
pups from the time they are born, to join the List. In order to do so, we
require you e-mail us the following information:

Corrections, additions, deletions to the List? Please let us know if you find anything that
needs to be changed etc. The List is
updated a number of times per week.
**Please note: If you are currently
registered with the Littermates’ List, but your e-mail addy has changed within
the past six months,
please e-mail your new addy to jr-wiley@rogers.com to ensure we are able
to contact you should we find a littermate of your pup!!
Once we
receive your information it will be included onto the List and we will send you
an updated version of your info with any additional information we may find,
via e-mail. If we don’t find additional
info, we will send you an e-mail confirming receipt of your e-mail.
Once we
find your pup(s)’ Littermates(s):
1.
Those Littermates will
be added to the Littermates’ List, as “Adopted” or “Still Racing as of 0/0/02”
2.
We’ll contact you and
the Littermates’ adoptive families, with one another’s e-mail info, only if
your permission (above) has been granted
3.
If we do not receive
consent from you, we will not forward your e-mail address on to the
Littermates’ Adopted families, nor will you receive their e-mail address
4.
Two things we do ask of
you - if you find a Littermate on your own, would you let us know in order for
us to add that info to the List and, if you meet each other please send us a
photo of the event!!

Go to Edit (with
your cursor), click on Find, and type in the LE tattoo number. LE 1111 NOT LE1111, remember to include a space
between LE and the number. Then click Find Next, if that number is on the List
it will come up, if it doesn’t come up, your pup and his or her littermates
have not been registered on this List.
Should you find your pup’s number on the list but its name
is not included among the littermates listed under that tattoo number, your pup may not have raced. If this is the case,
the NGA may be able to help you. The LE tat number is the Litter number and is
the link to your pup’s past, the RE tat number indicates the month, year and
order your pup was born in.
Another way to
search this List is, you can type in the racing name of your pup, however, it
has to be correct for eg. if his racing name was
Imgonawin do not type in I’m Gona Win, you will not find a match. You can type in the name of your pup’s sire
or dam, however, this can be very laborious if either have had a lot of
litters. That is why we prefer to use
the LE tat numbers. You may notice, some folks have registered their pups without numbers for
eg. LE RE -
this will not really help you find littermates, as LE numbers are the window to
your pup’s past!! If you have any difficulties searching the List, please
contact us at jr-wiley@rogers.com and
we will help you through it.
