Crowe up for a
rebound
Russell Crowe is
going to need more than some time off to patch up his life.
The actor, who released a statement last week that he'll take
a recess from his hell-raising, is mending his relationship
with girlfriend Danielle Spencer.
Sources close to the couple
said that this week will be "make or break time" for
them. But Crowe's rep denied to us that Spencer has "laid
down any ultimatum." |

| Cold Crowe:
No, we don't know who exactly came up with the idea of this
barmy poll or how the all important criteria were even drawn
up, but Russell Crowe has been named 'The Coldest Person in
Hollywood.' According to the website Film Threat, Crowe is
"a wild boor, whose bad-boy big mouth and
Redwood-sized-chip-on-the-shoulder easily cost him an Oscar
for A Beautiful Mind." Quite what Russell's
testosterone-fuelled temper has to do with being 'cold,' we
still haven't managed to work out.--EmpireOnline |

| Frustrated pugilist Russell
Crowe, now back in Sydney, is putting in a champion effort
to stay in the good books with his girlfriend Danielle
Spencer. The New York Post reports Crowe splurged

Stressed-out
Hollywood star Russell Crowe has made a secretive return to
Australia, heading straight to the harbourside apartment of
his singer girlfriend Danielle Spencer.
Crowe, 38, arrived in Sydney on a flight from Los
Angeles, confirming what many had always suspected - he's got
a lot of baggage. Hundreds of kilograms of it, in fact.
His minders ensured the temperamental star did not have to
face the waiting media at Sydney Airport, arranging for him to
be whisked through a back exit of the airport's customs area.
Airport sources said the luggage weighed in at more than half
a tonne and was taken to Crowe's harbourside mansion at
Elizabeth Bay by a flight catering truck. His arrival home
follows a brawl two weeks ago in posh London restaurant, Zuma,
between Crowe and NZ Warriors rugby league franchise owner,
Eric Watson.
Crowe wasted no time in reuniting with Spencer and was taken
directly from the airport to her apartment, within a kilometre
of his own home, where he spent the day with her. --TheAge |

CROWE
BACK IN ROOST--3 AM - The Mirror
 |
|
It's
about time he had a taste of his own medicine so we're
delighted to reveal that Russell Crowe spent
last night eating humble pie at his girlfriend Danielle
Spencer's house.
After
attending the Bali Relief charity concert in New York,
the 38-year-old Gladiator star jetted back Down Under
for "crunch talks" with Danielle, who is
fed-up with his womanising and brawling.
Earlier
this month he got into a fight with New Zealand
millionaire Eric Watson at London's
Zuma
bar and also embarrassed himself with a pretty
clubber.
He
then issued a statement saying he's taking time away
from the spotlight and, in an unusual move for the
normally private star, stated that he and Danielle,
29, are still very much together.
But
sources close to the couple claim Russell is only
still with singer Danielle by the skin of his teeth
and this week is "make or break time".
Our
source said: "He put the statement out as an
indication to Danielle to show he knows he's been an
idiot. She's been distant with him so it will be
interesting to see what happens now he's home.
"Danielle's
very busy with work so the boot's on the other foot
for once and it's fair to say he's grovelling big
style.
"She
knows he's no angel but he's hardly been discreet this
time and she's ready to give him his marching orders.
Dani knows Russell can't handle his drink and that's
when these incidents start but enough's enough."
They
dated for about five years in the early 90s but only
got back together earlier this year.
Friends
claim he is smitten and makes all the running in the
relationship. For how much longer is anyone's guess... |

Stone
the Crowes, Russ's sober --The SUN
RUSSELL
CROWE has been sticking to drinking water
after a string of booze-fuelled bouts.
The Gladiator star refused any of the hard stuff on
offer at the end of last week at a tribute concert in
New York held for victims of the Bali bombing.
Pals say the Oscar- winner is determined to shed his
drunken, trouble-making image after a brawl in trendy
London diner Zuma.
One said: “Russell is determined people will not see
him as some drunkard who gets p***** up and then has a
fight.
“He is a deeply intelligent man and is capable of
staying sober if he so chooses.”
At last week’s event Crowe sat quietly in a corner
of a VIP room all night sipping water with a minder
while most of the other guests got stuck in at the
bar. And the actor showed his softer side when filming
his latest film Master And Commander.
Hardman Russ paid for the entire cast and crew of the
movie to go swimming with dolphins while filming in
Mexico.
British co-star PAUL BETTANY says:
“Russell has got this bad reputation but it’s
unjustified. When we were filming in Mexico he took
the entire cast out swimming with dolphins — hardly
hell-raiser stuff.” |

| RETREATING CROWE: "Gladiator"
Oscar winner Russell
Crowe beat a retreat to Australia just days after a
reported slugfest in a London restaurant with businessman Eric
Watson, a fellow New Zealander. Citing "an undeniably
massive level of stress," the 38-year-old actor announced
on his band's Web site that he was heading back to his Coffs
Harbour farm in Australia to be with his father and
girlfriend, singer Danielle Spencer. Crowe's
announcement also broke the news that his band, 30 Odd Foot Of

| I'm not one to gossip, but ...--Stuff
magazine
Even though our RUSSELL CROWE
acts like a – sometimes moronic – Hollywood tough guy, he
does have a soft side too.
He recently revealed how difficult it
is being apart from the woman he loves – Aussie
actress/singer DANIELLE SPENCER.
He said Danielle's regular visits to
Mexico – where he is filming Master and Commander – helped
him get through the shoot.
"I find it extremely hard not to
be with the one I love when I'm working," he said.
"But I could not be with someone
who doesn't work to the same level of concentration as me, so
I accept it.
"I hadn't seen Danielle for
about three weeks when she came to Mexico to see me when
filming. She came to see me four times
out there."
Russell has also revealed that he's
got plenty of qualifications for fatherhood – with 13
god-children scattered around the world. "I see them for at least 10 days
each year, every one of them," he said.
"I'm a godfather – not a good
father. But one of these days I will find out if I will be a
good father."
After last week's punchup in London
between Russell and expat Kiwi millionaire ERIC WATSON,
maybe the duo should come back here next year and slug it out
in the boxing ring for charity in the Fight For Life
fundraiser.
Now that would be some billing and
would rake in a fortune for the charity. |
A
FRUIT 'N' NUT..--3AM --The
Mirror
 |
|
Hairy-arsed
Kiwi Russell Crowe has revealed he's
"under extreme stress" but we reckon he's a
banana short of a fruit bowl.
On
Sunday, the 38-year-old star sent back his fruit
basket three times to the kitchens at New York's 60
Thompson Hotel because they hadn't cut the fruit the
way he likes it.
Russell's
assistant also ruffled a few feathers because they ran
out of chicken paillard.
An
insider reveals: "The fruit wasn't cut how he
wanted it and he sent it back three times. Then, when
he ordered the chicken and they didn't have it, he
really freaked out."
His
PA demanded they go out and buy some more as Russell
wanted some later that night. Before the Oscar winner
had a chance to storm down to the hotel restaurant,
the general manager dashed out to the nearest
supermarket to buy a chicken which was then hastily
prepared for Crowe.
Earlier
this week the actor put out a statement saying he's
suffering from showbiz pressures and needs time out to
spend with long-suffering girlfriend Danielle
Spencer.
Which
is ironic because the speech came just days after he
was caught making a pass at a pretty clubber in London
bar Zumas and got into a fight.
However,
it appears the piggy-eyed fat lad is making the most
of his stay in New York and is managing his
"stress" by indulging in retail therapy.
Russell,
who owns a 560-acre ranch, gave his credit card an
absolute hammering in Hermes over the weekend.
He
spent £15,000 on saddles and whips and another £1,700
on truffles and champagne.
That
Danielle's a lucky lass...

SO
how does Hollywood hardman Russell
Crowe unwind after a hectic week grabbing
women and fighting in restaurants?
The
New Zealander clearly decided he needed a bit of
pampering after fighting with a fellow diner at Zuma
in Knightsbridge last week. Incidentally, he also
tried to lick a mole from woman's face - he thought it
was a piece of chocolate.
The
Oscar winner, who is staying at the Dorchester while
in London, decided to treat himself to a full body
massage at the hotel spa on Wednesday afternoon. The
poor masseuse.
The
38-year-old seems to be in touch with his feminine
side as he then wandered over to Covent Garden where
our spies tell us he proceeded to smell the soaps and
bath bombs at Lush.

As The Crowe Flies, Russell Hustles
Off
ctnow.com
Just days after a
reported slugfest in a London restaurant with a fellow
New Zealander, Russell Crowe has announced he is
heading back to his Coffs Harbour farm in Australia to
be with his father and girlfriend, singer Danielle
Spencer, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Tuesday.
"Though I love all aspects of my work, and it has
certainly benefited my family in myriad ways, the
success of the last three or four years has also
brought with it an undeniably massive level of
stress," he wrote on his band's website.
"Not only to me but to my immediate and extended
family and to my friends and friendships."
The Oscar-winning "Gladiator" star said he
wanted to be with his father, who is facing operations
next month for carpal tunnel syndrome. What seems more
likely is what a source, Peter Ford, said - that Crowe
made the decision after a long, emotional phone call
with Spencer. She was reportedly furious with him over
that pub fight with Eric Watson, owner of the
Warriors, a New Zealand rugby club |
|
| Crowe cancels show
Citing "massive stress" and
a desire to spend more time in Australia with his ailing
father and girlfriend Danielle Spencer, actor Russell Crowe
canceled an upcoming U.S. tour with his band, 30 Odd Foot of
Grunts. Refunds for the Jan. 21 show at the Austin Music Hall
will be given at point of purchase. The show was almost sold
out.
"Though I love all aspects of my
work, the success of the last three or four years has also
brought with it an undeniably massive level of stress,"
Crowe said in a statement. He also detailed a series of
operations his father is facing in December for carpal tunnel
syndrome. His statement also declared, "I am in love with
Danielle Spencer but I don't get to spend nearly enough time
with her."

Louise
to the rescue
If Russell Crowe
needs a shoulder to cry on, Susan Sarandon would be
happy to help.
The actress says she feels
Crowe's pain about the "massive stress" of living
life in the spotlight, which he has recently decried. But, she
says, there are ways to deal.
"You don't have to
sacrifice your family to do this job," Sarandon told an
Australian newspaper this week. "Sure, there are a lot of
demands placed on you. There's the press to deal with, and the
invasion of privacy is something else, but if you really,
really like what you're doing, you find a way to deal with the
stress."
But rather than go through
all her secrets with the rest of us, she'd really prefer to
discuss it with Crowe himself.
"If Russell Crowe wants
to speak to me about this," Sarandon says, "I'll be
glad to talk with him."

A Statement From
The Band and Management
For a number
of reasons we have decided that it is essential that the
members of the band and crew have the opportunity to
spend the Australian summer with their family and loved
ones.
Several of these
reasons relate to family health situations. We thank you
for your concern as expressed via email and on the
discussion board, since the tour cancellation was
announced. We ask that you respect our decision and
resist contributing to random speculation about the
possible reasons for the tour cancellation.
We reached this
decision for reasons that became undeniable to us and
all band members and crew support the difficult decision
we have made. We respectfully request that you
understand our decision and we again apologise for any
inconvenience caused to anyone.

From Russell Crowe
My father will begin a
series of operations in December to try and relieve the
excruciating pain of what has been diagnosed as carpal
tunnel syndrome in both of his wrists. With the recovery
period plus the
physical
rehabilitation between operations I need to be at home
and available to him and my family during this time.
Though he may make a full recovery very quickly this is
not the time to add pressure to him. Though I love all
aspects of my work, and it has certainly benefited my family
in myriad ways , the success of the last three or four
years has also brought with it an undeniably massive
level of stress , not only to me but to my immediate and
extended family and to my friends and friendships. Let
me clarify something else. I am in love with Danielle
Spencer but I don't get to spend nearly enough time with
her. Dani has been very patient with all of the
speculations of the past year or so which I thank her
for. I feel a great need to wake up with her as many
days of my life as I can.
To the fans of
TOFOG all I can do is apologise. The band and the crew
were looking forward to being on the road across America
and seeing your smiling, crazed
faces again. It is my hope that the quality of the new
album will be some compensation.

The Herald Sun: Danielle wins fans on
track - By FIONA BYRNE: DANIELLE Spencer had every
right to have steam coming out of her ears at the
Bendigo Cup on Thursday. First the track's PA system cut
out while she was singing happy birthday to legendary
trainer Bart Cummings. Then, to compound the insult, it
cut out twice during her excellent version of Advance
Australia Fair. The problems were probably inevitable.
Spencer was not able to conduct a sound check and her
crew could not set up her microphone until minutes
before she performed. The crowd, however, was won over
by the way she overcame the difficulties, with many
catching her for an autograph before she headed back to
Melbourne for an evening show. Before she left the
track, Spencer mentioned she had started work on songs
for her next album. Melbourne has taken to the former
soap star. She has been booked to perform at the launch
of Sunday Sessions at the new Docklands lounge bar Cargo
next Sunday.

Hollywood Celebs Make Magazine's 2002 Loser List
By Guylaine Cadorette, Hollywood.com Staff
HOLLYWOOD, November 8, 2002 --
Stuff magazine has compiled a tongue-in-cheek list of
2002's biggest losers and two Hollywood celebs have made the
list. New Zealand actor Russell
Crowe, who starred in last year's drama A
Beautiful Mind, was ranked No. 2 with the
recommendation that he should lighten up. Also on the list was
The West Wing star Martin
Sheen for apparently thinking he really is the president.
The top honors went to Steven the Dell Guy, whose real name is
Ben Curtis. "The Dell Guy was ubiquitous," Stuff
editor in chief Greg Gutfeld told Reuters. "The only
reason he's perceived as being successful was because he was
ubiquitous." Also on the list: the FBI, for publicly
identifying a suspected anthrax mailer who now plans to sue
the agency for defamation, and airport security workers, with
the citation, "they couldn't spot a real terrorist if
they had 'Death to Infidels' tattooed on their
foreheads." |

HE
vowed to keep on drinking the hard stuff in memory of

And
Russell Crowe has certainly kept his
promise.
The
38-year-old has been hitting the bars in Harris's
hometown of Limerick in Ireland with a vengeance since
Wednesday.
After
dumping his bags, the Hollywood actor headed off to
drink in Harris's favourite watering hole, the St
George's Pub.
Flanked
by a burly minder, a scruffily-dressed Crowe knocked
back the Guinness.
After
a few too many pints, Crowe - who became close to
Harris after starring alongside him in Gladiator -
decided to frequent another public house.
But
he didn't get the down-to-earth Irish reception he'd
hoped for. Pitching up at closing time, Crowe was
forced to leave after the barmaid refused to serve
him. He may be an Oscar winner, but rules are rules.
But
for once, Russell didn't throw a wobbly. Instead he
headed off to one of the town's nightclubs called
Brazenhead.
Our
source said: "He took it very well. He looked a
bit surprised, but left very quietly with his minder
close behind him.
"Russell
then headed for a nightclub and really let his hair
down.
"He
happily chatted away to people and looked very
relaxed.
"He
told a few clubbers that he flew 5,500 miles from
Mexico to say farewell to Harris and was very proud to
be one of his closest pals."

have no doubt that Harris would have been proud of
Crowe's performance that night, too.--Mirror 3 AM |

Crowe Joins Mourners
at Harris Funeral
Hollywood
badboy Russell
Crowe was close to tears at the London funeral of Gladiator
co-star and close pal Richard
Harris yesterday. The Oscar-winning actor flew 5,000
miles from filming Master
And Commander in Rosarito, Mexico to attend the service
in St Thomas More Catholic Church in Chelsea, west London
and the private cremation in Mortlake, south west London
afterwards. Russell told journalists outside the church,
"I love him and I miss him." The actors became
boozing buddies as they worked on the Roman epic in 2000
when Russell played General Maximus Decimus Meridus opposite
Richard's Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Before Richard's death
last month the Irish hellraiser tipped the Antipodean star
to carry on his badboy behavior. Richard said, "Top
bloke, loves his rugby, doesn't give a stuff, brilliant
actor, a much loved new friend. He will carry the baton on.
He irritates the hell out of the Hollywood bigwigs, but he's
much too good for them to ignore." After the service,
Russell spoke to the grieving family and kissed Richard's
eight- month-old grandson and hugged the actor's son Jared,
37. The Harry
Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets star's coffin, draped
in an Irish flag was carried out of St Thomas More by six
pall bearers, including his sons Jamie, 36 and Damian, 39.
Richard's ex-wives Ann
Turkel and Elizabeth
Rees, who Richard remained friends with until his
demise, were also present.--IMB
