[As the island Tea spent much of the previous summer stranded on comes into view, she notices that her heart is beating faster in her chest. She has a tremendous urge to flee, which is only surpassed by her urge to see her ex-husband again.
As Del directs the boat closer to the island, Tea is disappointed as she scans the beach. She hates to admit it, even to herself, but she was hoping to find Todd anxiously awaiting her arrival.
Despite his absence from the shoreline, despite any sign of human occupation of the isolated island, Tea is certain that he must be there. He wouldn't send her to this island again, without being there himself. Or, would he?
Tea leaves the deck of the boat and joins her brother in the cabin.]
Tea: Maybe we should circle to the other side of the island.
Del: Will I be able to get the boat closer to shore on the other side?
Tea: I don't know. I don't know anything anymore. Maybe this isn't even the right island.
Del: Does it look familiar?
Tea: Unfortunately.
Del: What's going on, Tea? Did you change your mind again?
Tea: We never should have come. It was foolish to think...
Del: To think what? That Manning would be on that beach, jumping up and down, waving his arms in the air as you arrived?
Tea: What if he's not even on the island?
Del: If he isn't, we'll bring the life raft back to the boat and go back to paradise, the one that has bathrooms and room service.
Tea: This island was never paradise.
Del: Except when Manning was playing games and letting you think he wanted to marry you again.
Tea: We never discussed marriage.
Del: Girls always think marriage when guys do the things that I don't even want to think about Manning doing to you.
Tea: Lucky for you, he's not here. Let's go back.
Del: What about that Manning sensor thing you claim to have? Do you feel he's here?
Tea: My Manning sensor must be malfunctioning. He's clearly not on that island.
Del: Maybe he was flown in and that's why there's no boat.
Tea: Maybe something happened to him on his way here.
Del: Before you start to panic about that creep, let's drop anchor and get the raft. We'll check out the island and make sure it's creep free.
Tea: Don't call him that. He could be...
Del: Relax, Tea. You have a sense that Manning is here, right? So do I. I can sense when I'm near a criminal and my sensor is going off big time.
Tea: But, where is he? He must have heard us by now. Something's wrong.
Del: This guy better finally start appreciating how lucky he is to have someone like you care so much about him. If he doesn't show you the respect you deserve this time, I'll enjoy beating some sense into him.
Tea: I don't want any violence, is that understood?
Del: What he did to you was...
Tea: It was between Todd and myself. I didn't bring you here to play over-protective big brother.
Del: Why did you bring me?
Tea: I didn't want to come back here alone.
Del: So, you knew all along where Todd was sending you?
Tea: I suspected.
Del: Why were you so determined about not returning to this island, if you knew this was exactly where Manning wanted you to come?
Tea: When I left, I swore I would never come back. Maybe you were right. Maybe Todd views this island differently than I do. Returning here is painful for me. Todd should have known that. He should never have put me in the position of having to re-live our time here.
Del: Are you sure you don't want me to beat the crap out of the creep for you?
Tea: I'll take care of Todd.
Del: So, what's my job here?
Tea: You have to keep me from beating up Todd.
Del: I'd actually enjoy seeing that.
Tea: I'll be hurt and angry. Todd will probably say and do all the wrong things, including being oblivious as to why I'm hurt and angry. I need you to remind me why I came back here in the first place.
Del: Which is?
Tea: He makes me feel alive.
Del: Maybe you should try sky-diving.
Tea: There is nothing on this planet that could give me the rush that being near Todd does.
Del: You could try other planets. Manning could pay for you to go into space. He owes you.
Tea: Maybe I should stop stalling and face my fear.
Del: Your fear of this island, or your ex-husband?
Tea: I'm not afraid of Todd.
Del: You're afraid of something. I know you well enough to know it's more than just remembering being stranded here last summer.
Tea: I opened my heart to Todd a long time ago. I thought he had opened his to me, as much as he could. I learned last summer that my assumption had been wrong. He never loved me.
Del: If you believed that you wouldn't have come.
Tea: I always come when Todd needs me. He never bothers to show up when I need him, but I'm always there when he needs me. Let's get the raft and get this over with.
Del: We can go back. You don't have to put yourself through this.
Tea: If Todd Manning is on that island, I don't have a choice.
Del: Of course you do. You can leave the creep to his misery.
Tea: When Todd's miserable so am I. I need to help him so he can go back to his family. Once he's happy again, I can return to my own life.
Del: You deserve better than this. You don't deserve someone who makes you feel like he's better off when he's not with you.
Tea: It's not Todd's fault that he can't love me.
Del: If that creep doesn't love you, that is his fault, not yours. Just like your mami leaving was her fault, not yours.
Tea: You don't understand. Your mami died. Mine chose not to be my mother anymore. It's a completely different feeling. Todd understands. He feels the same way.
Del: If that's true, it's even worse what he puts you through. He teases you with his love and then withholds it from you.
Tea: He doesn't do it on purpose.
Del: Don't make excuses for him.
Tea: I'm not. I'm simply trying to explain my relationship with Todd.
Del: To me, or to yourself?
Tea: I've never understood his pull on me in the past. Why should now be any different?
Del: Stay here. I'll go have a little chat with Manning. He won't be able to bother you ever again.
Tea: You'll do no such thing. Maybe I should go alone, though.
Del: I'm not letting you near that creep alone.
Tea: I'll just explain to Todd that no charges are being brought against him and that he's free to return to his family. If we both go, there won't be enough room on the raft for all three of us to return to the boat.
Del: That man deserves to be stuck on that island alone for the rest of his life for what he's put you through. There's no punishment greater than being forced to spend a lifetime alone with Todd Manning.
Tea: That doesn't sound like punishment to me.
Del: Tell me what you want, Tea. Do you want me to keep you from getting hurt by that creep again? Or, do you want me to help you sacrifice yourself once again to a man who will never deserve you?
Tea: Both.
Del: My vote is, we turn around right now and leave Manning to fend for himself.
Tea: My heart can't refuse this chance.
Del: Even if you know it can only end in more heartache?
Tea: Todd's worth it.
Del: I disagree.
Tea: So does Todd, but he wanted me to come for a reason. I can't leave until I find out what that reason is.
