Who is Nkhensani?

As the brand originator and creative director of Stoned Cherrie she is known as the hot fashion diva, but like every one she too started somewhere.But her uniquenes is that she has been a countinous successs. She went to Wits University where she majored in industrial psychology and sociology.

Nkhensani was born in Johannesburg and she grew up Umtata and at her early years her family moved to Connecticut where as her father was was enrolled for his doctorate at Yale.

Nkhensani is also a proud mother of a two year old son Zenzo whom she loves dearly. She currently appears on TV along side her fiancé Zam Nkosi in their successful talk show on SABC 1-Mojo

Although it is not all glory making designs and sustaining the business, Stoned Cherrie has had to handle people making their designs and mass producing them in the markets. But she has grown to learn the tricks of the retail world.

Stoned Cherrie first hit the public with their designs on the ramp during the South African Fashion Week in 2000. In the past three years Stoned Cherrie has grown to be recognized and has set the trend for many South African designers to follow. Stoned Cherrie store is based in Rosebank Mall where you can find the “Urban African” garments that will free you to express you individuality. My role models are amazing - woman like Dolly Radebe and Miriam Makeba. "

Stone Cherrie has distinct strong culture in the arts and
craft with their very unique stylish detail of beadwork and embroidery
but the work of Stoned Cherrie also supports the talented people who
were currently unemployed through an outreach programme
craftspeople.

There is a lot of research behind each design. Nkhensani says that her ideas for her designs come through old photographs, Bailey’s Historical Archives for drum magazine.

Stoned Cherrie include the head designer, Thabane Mavundla, 24, Nkhensani as the creative Director behind it all and other designers in team. Nkhensai has ventured into creative position open to her. She is known as entrepreneur, television personality, stage actress, writer, owner of a production company, official for M-Net's Face of Africa, and more recently brand originator and creative director of Stoned Cherrie. The amazing factor about all these achievements is that Nkhensani is only 30 years old and has made a fashionable statement about her success.
