How do you mend a broken heart

Is there a thread strong enough made

So that it won’t tear all apart

Exactly where does one start

Deep inside were all the pain resides

Or do you work at repairing pieces

Of it from the outside

Layer by layer hoping against hope

That when you get deep enough

It won’t be so rough

Hearts are tough and don’t break so fast

They were made a lifetime to last

But when things come in your path in life

And you are confronted with a lot of strife

It weakens the heart strings that hold it together

Things that others feel shouldn’t really matter

Make tiny tears at the seams of your heart

And if not taken care of it will fall apart

Most people don’t realize how deeply

Some people really feel about love and trust

That without them both they are lost

Some of us hold our hearts in our hands

And our happiness on so many others depends

When we are betrayed or just told to go away

Our hearts are broken and we don’t know what to say

Just this deep pain in our chest that hurts so bad

Tears sliding down our faces because we are so sad

Some say it is not good to love and care for others so much

But some of us really need this human touch

There are those that find happiness can’t you see

Helping others to be all that they can be

So when you have done all that you feel you can

It hurts when you find out that others don’t understand

The greatest gift you can give is friendship and love

And some of us hold out our hearts in our hands

Knowing that everything on others depends

Once in awhile a tear forms here and there

So please handle this gentle heart with care

Because in the end for you it will always be there
