It was two days before Valentine’s Day. Justin Timberlake was completely bummed out because Britney had just dumped him.
“I had so much planned!” complained Justin. “How can you dump your ‘significant other’ two days before Valentine’s Day?”
Justin walked through the park. He saw a young girl about his age playing with her large dog.
“Go get the ball, Ace, go get it!” the girl said.
The dog, Ace, had immediately galloped in Justin’s direction and flew by right in front of him. Justin, who was quite surprised, stopped where he was and watched the dog speed past him once again.
“Good boy!” the girl smiled as she took the tennis ball from her dog and rubbed his furry head and neck.
“Nice dog.” Justin said as he walked up to the girl. “What breed?”
“German Shepherd-Retriever cross.” the girl replied.
“Cool!” Justin smiled. “What’s your name?”
“I’m Robyn. This is my dog, Ace.” The girl smiled. “What’s your name?”
“I’m Justin.”
“Cool.”
“Do you always come here?”
“Yup,” answered Robyn. “Every day!”
“Awesome,” smiled Justin. “I come here whenever I can, too.”
Justin and Robyn hung out together and played with Ace at the park for the rest of the day. By five-thirty that evening, Justin was walking Robyn and Ace home.
“So, can I see you tomorrow?” Justin asked hopefully.
Robyn looked at Justin and smiled.
“Sure! Can I meet you at the park?” she asked.
“Yeah! Around one-thirty?”
“Sure, I’ll see you then!” Robyn called as she went into her house.
“’Bye!” Justin called back.
Justin went back home to his house and phoned his best friend, J.C.
“Your quarter!” J.C. greeted when he picked up the phone.
“Hey Shazzam, guess what?” asked Justin excitedly.
“Britney dumped you this morning. We’re all kinda considering that old news,” replied J.C.
“Nope! Way better than that!” said Justin. “I just met this girl, Robyn, at the park! She’s really nice. She’s fun, she’s smart, she’s expressive, she’s pretty, she’s—“
“Everything Britney isn’t?” J.C. interrupted.
“Exactly!” exclaimed Justin. “I think I’m gonna see if she’ll do something with me on Valentine’s Day!”
“Are you sure? You just broke up with Britney and you only met this girl today. What makes you think she’ll do something with you on Valentine’s Day?”
“Because she’s single. All I have to do is turn on the good ol’ Timberlake charm and she’s mine!” Justin replied with determination.
“What makes you so sure? She might only be doing things with you because you’re Justin Timberlake of *N Sync.” noted J.C.
“Well, she’s not. I only told her I was Justin. She never asked for or gave a full name, so I never gave her a full name,” replied Justin.
“Are you getting together at all?”
“Tomorrow at the park at one-thirty.” Justin said with confidence.
“Oh, okay then.”
Justin and J.C. talked for a little while longer, then hung up for the night.
The next day, Justin was at the park at about one-fifteen. A few minutes after he got there, his eyes and face lit up when he saw Robyn and Ace walking along the path.
“Hey Robyn!” Justin called as he jogged up to them.
“Hi Justin!” Robyn smiled.
Justin and Robyn played basketball after they went out for lunch. They played with Ace, too. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when Justin asked Robyn a question.
“Are you doing anything tomorrow? You know, for Valentine’s Day?”
“No,” replied Robyn. “Not as far as I know.”
“Can we do something tomorrow then? You know, for Valentine’s Day?” asked Justin.
“That would be great!” answered Robyn.
Justin smiled.
“Can I ask you just one more question?”
“Of course!” replied Robyn.
“Can I kiss you?”
“Can you what?”
“Kiss you,” repeated Justin. “Can I kiss you?”
Robyn looked into Justin’s gorgeous blue eyes and nodded.
“Yes.” Robyn smiled.
“With tongue?”
“You said just one more question!” laughed Robyn.
“No, I’m serious!” whined Justin.
Robyn laughed again.
“Alright then, Mr. Serious, do it however you want!” said Robyn.
“Really?” asked Justin.
“That’s another question.” replied Robyn as they moved really close together.
Justin smiled and pulled Robyn in close. He kissed her softly on the lips. Then he held the back of her neck and kissed her harder. He held her back and pulled her into his arms as he slid his tongue in and out of her mouth. When Justin finally stopped kissing Robyn, they were both breathing heavily.
Robyn starred at Justin in amazement.
“What? You look like you’ve never been kissed before!” Justin chuckled.
“Not like that I haven’t!” commented Robyn.
“You liked it?”
“Yeah…”
“Maybe we could continue tomorrow.” Justin suggested as he stood up. “I’ve gotta go.”
“Okay, ‘bye…”
Justin smiled and leaned over the back of the bench. He whispered into Robyn’s ear.
“By the way,” he whispered. “I’m Justin Timberlake. You can tell me your last name tomorrow!”
With that, Justin sped off.
“Justin Timberlake?” Robyn asked herself. “I just got kissed by Justin Timberlake?”
Robyn got up.
“Come on Ace, let’s go home.” Commanded Robyn.
Ace obediently stood up and trotted beside Robyn all the way home.
The next day, Robyn arrived at Justin’s house at four-thirty, the time that Justin instructed for her to be there. She knocked on the door, which was answered immediately by a man that Robyn swore she had seen before, but had no idea where.
J.C. looked the dark-haired, blue-eyed girl up and down. She was, as Justin had described, very pretty indeed.
“You must be Robyn.” Said J.C.
Robyn nodded. “That’s me.”
“Good, you’re right on time.” J.C. smiled. “Come with me.”
Robyn did as she was told and followed J.C. into Justin’s dining room.
“Wait here.” He instructed.
Robyn nodded and watched J.C. disappeared into what must have been a kitchen. Justin came out a few seconds later.
“Hi Robyn!” he greeted cheerfully.
“Hi!” Robyn smiled when she saw his familiar face in the candlelight.
Justin immediately came up to Robyn’s side and pulled a chair out for her. She sat down and he pushed it in again for her. Robyn smiled. The two of them had a very romantic dinner for two. Justin began to chuckle to himself.
“I have a couple more questions.” He announced.
“Alright,” said Robyn, giving Justin her full attention.
“Question number one: what’s your last name?”
Robyn laughed.
“My last name is Pétrie.” She told him.
“Oh, thank-you. Question number two: would you be my girlfriend?”
Robyn was shocked.
“Uh…y-your g-girlfriend?” she stuttered.
“Yes, my girlfriend. Please say you will.” Justin begged.
Robyn nodded her head vigorously.
“Of course I will!”
“Yes!” exclaimed Justin. “I have one more question.”
“And that is?” asked Robyn.
“Can I kiss you?”
Robyn laughed.
Four years later, Robyn and Justin were still dating. It was their four-year anniversary, Valentine’s Day. They were walking through the park with Ace.
“Once again, I have a question!” Justin informed Robyn.
Robyn laughed. Every time Justin announced that he had a question, it reminded them both of the second and third days that they had ever known each other.
“Alright, shoot.” Said Robyn.
“Umm…I, uh, sit down please.” Justin said nervously.
Robyn sat down on the park bench that they had shared their first kiss on. Justin sat on the bench too. He seemed tense and nervous. He was very hesitant.
“Oh no, this is it, he’s breaking up with me…” Robyn thought sadly.
Justin took both of Robyn’s hands in his. The two looked deep into each other’s eyes.
“Be strong,” Robyn told herself. “If it’s gonna end now, you might as well see it through to the end, with no regrets.”
“Umm…I’ve been thinking about this—about us—for a long rime now.” Justin paused for a moment, and once again, hesitantly continued. “A very long time now…and…umm…”
Robyn bit her bottom lip. She didn’t want their relationship to end, not here, not now.
“She’s gonna say no! She’s gonna say no!” Justin thought.
Robyn looked at Justin. He had the very same happy sparkle in his eyes that he’d had the first day they’d met. But there was something different about it…
“Okay, I’ll just make this short and sweet.” Justin decided.
He squeezed Robyn’s hand tightly.
“Will you marry me?” he asked timidly.
Robyn starred at him.
“Oh no, don’t say no! Don’t say no!” Justin’s mind screamed as he showed Robyn the ring.
A wide smile spread across Robyn’s face.
“Yes!” she jumped up and wrapped Justin in the biggest hug that he had ever received. “I will!”
“You will?” Justin asked in amazement as he hugged Robyn back. “I can’t believe I finally got that out!”
Justin kissed the top of Robyn’s head and stroked her hair. Ace laid down. For some reason, he knew that this moment was going to last a while.
“I love you.” Justin smiled.
Robyn backed off a little so that she could look Justin in the eye.
“I love you, too!” she smiled back. “I love you more than anything ever imaginable! This is the best day ever!”
“No,” Justin replied. “The day we met was the best day ever!”
Robyn smiled up at Justin.
“Yes,” she agreed. “You came ‘Justin’ time for Valentine’s Day!”
Justin laughed. “Hold on, I have another question.”
“And what might that be?” asked Robyn.
“Can I kiss you?”
