TnT At Jessica's
"Graduation Party"

Once again, TnT are "separated".... we enter the storyline at the point where Todd has kicked Téa out of the Penthouse (yet again!) for signing on as a member of Bo's defense team. Then, immediately after, he sets about trying to manipulate circumstances that he thinks will bring her back home to him! Namely, trying to blackmail Nora and Sam into firing her, in exchange for his going "easy" on Bo [in The Sun]. Todd would eventually pull a "headline scoop" anyway (even though his blackmail attempt didn't work) for Téa's benefit. The scenes being recapped in this memory post follow those scenes from the "Burning Lake" [where Téa confronts Todd about his blackmail scheme] and "The Letter Opener" [heartstopping, intense confrontation between the Ts].

The night before, Téa has confronted Kevin about the Buchanans attempts to frame Todd for Georgie's murder, passionately defending Todd in the progress. Later, when asked by Viki if she still loves Todd, Téa responds... "I don't think I'll ever stop loving Todd". Téa leaves Viki and ends up at The Sun later that night, to tell Todd he was right about the Buchanans, which leads to that scintillating moment when Todd very slowly runs his fingers down Téa's arm to the palm of her hand, then gently lifts her hand to his lips.

The next day's scenes begin at The Sun...... Viki has arrived to invite Todd to Jessica’s graduation party, dressed from head to toe in a beautiful color coordinated “creme” outfit, pearls, matching handbag......

Todd: You here to snoop, too?

Viki: Me? Snoop? Tsk, tsk! No, I came to invite you to Jessica’s graduation party at the Country Club tonight.

Todd: (checking out Viki’s outfit) Really? You look like you’re here to sell me ice cream.

Viki: Jessie wants you there. So do I.

Todd: (smirky grin on his face) Well, let me see.... Kevin will be there, right?

Viki: Mm-hmm.

Todd: Clint.

Viki: Mm-hmm.

Todd: The tall guy, what’s-his-name? Asa?

Viki: Mm-hmm.

Todd: Bo may even be there now that he’s got his son to take his place at the jailhouse. No. Thank you, No.

[Viki gives him an exasperated look as the scene switches to the Country Club where Jessica’s party is already in full swing. As she walks towards their table, Téa overhears a portion of Jessica’s and Kelly’s conversation, where they are commiserating over Drew having recently been arrested for the G murder.]

Kelly: That doesn’t sound like someone who can kill someone, does it?

Jessica: It’s just like Uncle Todd. I mean, I like him. I’m about the only one, except for my Mom.

Téa: (small laugh) Well, he doesn’t make it easy.

Jessica: Oh, I’m sorry.

Téa: (handing Jess a gift) Don’t be.... congratulations, by the way.

Jessica: Thank you.

Téa: Hi, Kelly. You look very pretty.

Kelly: Thank you.

Téa: It’s no big surprise... or secret.... that Todd’s his own worst enemy.

Jessica: I thought that my Mom was supposed to invite him, right? I did....

Téa: Oh well, I wouldn’t count on him being here.

Jessica: Yeah.

Téa: (sad voice) You know what’s funny? I’m the one who walked out on him..... and I miss him. I really miss the town pariah. Don’t you just want to shake some sense into me?

Kelly: No. I think it’s amazing. You know, the way you stand by him when the whole town is on his case. I don’t know if I could do the same.

Téa: (unaware that Kelly is thinking about Drew) Well, you won’t have to. Joey is everyone’s favorite.

[End of Scene.]

[Back at The Sun.....]

Viki: Todd, I don’t really think that you can blame the Buchanans, and Bo in particular, for not clasping you to their collective bosom.

Todd: Oh, believe me, the last thing I want to do is to be near Bo’s bosom. It’s just that when the Buchanans try and frame me for the murder of Georgie Phillips, I get a little upset.

Viki: You have my word that Kevin’s suspicions will not make it into print in “The Banner”, ok? It’s going to be a lovely party, and Jessie wants you there. I know she does.

Todd: Yeah. Her, and her alone.

Viki: No, me too. God knows why.

Todd: Oh, come on, they got to you too. You’re one of the Buchanans. They bought you.

Viki: Nooooo, Todd.

Todd: It’s true, isn’t it?

Viki: Noooo. No, Todd, it’s not true. My last name is Carpenter. I’m not a Buchanan. And besides that, I was born a Lord, just like you.

Todd: No, not just like me.

Viki: Oh, shut up!

Todd: So you’re not mounting the barricades for the Buchanans?

Viki: No, I’m not. I don’t even want to begin to tell you how angry Clint is with me over that.

Todd: (grinning) Really?

Viki: Mm-hmm.

Todd: Well, I’m very impressed. You know, if you need another spot, you’re welcome to come to “The Sun” as a reporter.

Viki: (smiling at him) Téa will be there tonight.

Todd: Téa?

Viki: Mm-hmm.

Todd: (sad look comes over his face) Téa’s not exactly a member of my team these days either.

Viki: Really? I talked to her last night for quite a while. I think you’ll be pleased to know she defended you right down to the wire, which I think says a lot about how she feels about you.

[Viki has Todd’s “full attention” now and he is taking in her every word, very carefully.]

Viki: She loves you. She really, really loves you. And she’s very good for you. And so I thought tonight might be yet another opportunity for the two of you to try to work things out. Anyway, think about it, ok?

[Viki makes a move towards the door to leave, but Todd playfully steps in front of her and blocks her path. Viki very loudly “clears” her throat while giving him a “look”.... Todd steps out of her way, small grin on his face. This is a very sweet & lighthearted TnV moment! As he watches her leave, from the look on Todd’s face we see that Todd is seriously weighing everything that Viki has said to him.... about Téa.]

[End of Scene.]

[At the Country Club, Viki has just learned that Kevin has gone against her wishes and ran the article in “The Banner” about his suspicions that Todd is Georgie’s murderer.... Viki is not pleased but Clint backs up Kevin. Todd arrives at the party in the midst of their argument, unseen by anyone but Sam... who walks over to him.]

Sam: Hey. Glad you came. Good for you, this is good... this is really good.

Todd: This sucks. I’m outta here. (turns and leaves)

Sam: Right. (follows Todd)

[Téa is standing beside Joey at the party, who notices Todd leaving.]

Joey: Is that Todd?

Téa: (eyes light up) Where?

[Todd has made his way back into the Dining Room of the Country Club, with Sam close on his heels.]

Todd: Those Buchanans are like rabbits.

Sam: What the hell is going on with you?

[Todd cuts his eyes over at the table where Max and Blair are.... by this time, the bloody gloves are missing from his office and he suspects these two have something to do with that.]

Sam: Why don’t you spill it, Todd? Come on, tell me, what’s up?

Todd: Nothing. Dumb to come here. Remind me never to listen to my big sister.

Sam: Why did you come?

Todd: (nonchalant) Jessica’s graduation.

Sam: Yeah.... and?

Todd: And..... I thought Téa might be here. Viki told me she might actually be on my side.

Sam: Well, she is.... here... that is.

Todd: What about you? You on my side?

Sam: Why do you keep asking me that? You’ve been on my case since yesterday wanting to know am I on your side. What is going on? Why do you want to know?

Todd: I don’t really want to talk about it right now.

Sam: You don’t want to talk about it. Well, will you talk about one thing? Will you tell me what is up with Blair? I mean, she comes over to me, she wants... she’s looking for a list of all the things “missing” from the lodge that night. I mean, come on, tell me.

Todd: You got a lot of questions. I just need you on my side, Sam, I.... are you on my side?

Sam: I am.

[End of Scene.]

[Jessica walks over to Todd and Sam who are sitting at one of the tables in the Dining Room. Todd is drinking his Scotch with a 'spoon' and gets this “sheepish” look on his face when Jessica asks....]

Jessica: Hi. Todd, why aren’t you out on the terrace?

Sam: (getting up from the table to leave) You know, I’ve been asking him the same question. Maybe you can get an answer out of him.

Todd: (to Jessica) Moving out into the big, bad world, huh? How’s it been so far?

Jessica: Well, the party’s a bust.

Todd: That’s because I’m not there.

Jessica: No. I mean, don’t get jealous or anything, but I’m more concentrating on Cristian not being here. Meanwhile, all my friends are at this big party with no adults.

Todd: You’re an adult.

Jessica: You know what I mean.

Todd: Well, then go.

Jessica: I will. Believe me, I will.

Todd: No, I mean now. I’ll give you a lift.

Jessica: You want me to leave my own party?

Todd: Yeah. I do it all the time.

Jessica: You are so weird.

Todd: Well, that’s why you like me.

Jessica: Yeah. So why do you like me?

Todd: Who says I do? (Jessica gives him a "look") Ok, I do. You know, part of the reason I like you is because you don’t buy into the Buchanan crap.

Jessica: You know, attacking my uncle the way you did, that didn’t exactly help.

Todd: You too, huh?

Jessica: And, I was wondering if you could please lay off Drew?

Todd: Alright. For you, I’ll think about it. But you got to understand.... making the Buchanans miserable is the only thing that makes me happy.

Jessica: That was a really stupid thing to say.

Todd: Why?

Jessica: (gets up from the table) Let’s go.

Todd: (rises to his feet) Where are we going?

Jessica: Out to my wonderful, exciting party. Téa’s there.... and I think she’s looking for you.

[Now it’s Todd’s “eyes” that light up!]

[End of Scene.]
