The Mao Game

Written by, directed by and starring Joshua Miller, the film is about growing up in a dysfuntional Hollywood family. The title come from the card game where only the dealer knows the rules and the participants must learn them by playing, een though they may be changed at any point. In the film, the custody of the son is decided in a card game between his mother (Kirstie) and his dying grandmother (Piper Laurie). The film explores the relationships between these three main characters and received good reviews. Unfortunately it is unavailable on video .

Drop Dead Gorgeous

A documentry style story of a small-town beauty pageant where the contestants will go to all lengths to suceed, Drop Dead Gorgeous does have it's moments, even if the story goes a little of track towards the end. Kirstie Alley plays Gladys Leeman, the homicidally ambitious mother of Denise Richards (Becky). I can;t say this was my all time favourite of Kirstie's, and i've only really watched it once, but is is worth buying just for the comment it makes on beuty pageants in general, the anorexic former beauty queen being one of the more tragic stories. This film is easy to buy, one of the very few i've managed to actually buy in a shop! But if you're not convinced, here's the trailer. The film also stars Kirsten Dunst and Ellen Barkin.

Blonde

I don't know much about this film other than that it's a TV mini series about the life of Marilyn Monroe, and Kirstie plays 'Elsie'. It's quite recent, and i don't think it was ever shown over here, but i'll keep my eyes out, and get back to you .
