The next day came and we started our trip. It would be quite a few hours in a bus, till we got to Sierra. Just enough time for me to worry myself into a state.

"What's up with Marc-Andre?" Kathryn asked me.

I looked over and saw Marc-Andre chewing on his nails. "I think he's nervous about seeing Ashley."

"Why?" She asked with a puzzled look.

I told her the story and she nodded. "I see."

"Ashley they'll be here in just a couple of hours we have got to tidy this place!" I shouted frustratedly.

Ashley was staring out the window, AGAIN, totally lost in thought. This was getting really frustrating.

"Ashley." I said.

She kept looking out the window.

"Ashley!" I said louder.

She didn't flinch.

"ASHLEY!" I yelled.

"WHAT!" She yelled, turning switfly.

"What's up with you?" I asked.

She put on a bright, totally fake smile. "Nothing! Silly! What makes you think anything's wrong?!" She then walked over to the kitchen and put a fork in the fridge and some milk in the cutlery drawer.

I just shook my head and groaned.

Brett sat in the seat beside me and just looked at me. After a few minutes, I gave in. "WHAT?" I said.

"Mary-Kate was right, it does work." He smiled. "I thought you were going to try the cross-the-bridge-as-it-happens routine."

"I'm still nervous." I said, starting to bite my nails again.

"Stop that." Brett said slapping my hand away

I sighed. "Man I don't know what I'm going to do" I buried my head in my hands.

"Move over" I heard someone say. I glanced up to see her push Brett further along the seat so she could sit next to me "Ok I need the details?"

"Why should I tell you?"

"Because I AM a girl and I CAN help" she said simply.

"Well..." I told her the whole story about how Ashley and I went out for a year, how I still have feelings for her, how Matt died and I kissed her really soon after and just as I was leaving.

"Ah." She nodded. "I see."

"Well?" I asked impatiently.

She rolled her eyes and glanced at me "Let me guess you haven't mentioned it to her any of the times you talked?"

I nodded silently.

"Well, that's a toughy." She said. "I think the easiest thing is to do the direct approach. Tell her you like her. What have you got to lose."

I reflected on that thought. "A lot." I said after a few minutes. "It's hopeless."

"You got to get a better attitude bro," Brett said. "You have to be confident and overall BE YOURSELF."

"She'd probably run away screaming" I said sadly.

They both punched me for that remark.

"Ok Ok!" I said putting my hands up "I'll be a lil more positive.

"You better." Kathryn said.

"I remember a song verse saying 'Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight' and it's true. Look at Mary-Kate and I!" Brett said proudly. "Things will work out."

"What song is that?" I asked him.

"It's called 'Lovers in a dangerous time' by the Barenaked Ladies." He answered.

"ASHLEY! ASHLEY!" I Yelled frustratedly "Could you help me with this?"

She just continued staring at nothing "ASHLEY!" I screamed

"What?" She asked suddenly looking up.

"Help me move this table!" I said motioning to the table I was barely holding up.

I walked over and helped her move the heavy table. My mind started to wonder and the table started to slip. "ASHLEY!" Mary-Kate screamed. I snapped back to attention and finished moving the table.

"Ok," Mary-Kate said, sitting me down. "We have to get this settled before you get me killed."

"What's to settle" She said jumping up from the sofa and starting to walk away, my guess to go do some 'cleaning' which was causing me more work then if she didn't try to help!

"Nuh-uh!" I said pulling her back.

"It's about Marc-Andre isn't it." I said.

"It didn't mean anything!" She said very quickly.

"Sure it didn't" I said sarcastically.

"Alright! So it did!" She admitted. "I'm so confused."

I put my arm around her. "Everything will work out. You'll see."

"I don't know about that" she said nervously "I don't know what I'm going to do"

Just then we heard a knock at the door. We'd given the guys our adress and they'd promised to come visit as soon as they got here. That had to be them!

I feel bad about it but I totally dumped Ashley. I lept up and since she'd been leaning on me she fell against the side of the sofa and I raced to the door.

Brett was there standing at the door with a smile. "Hey beautiful." He smiled and leaned down and kissed me. He wrapped his arms around me in a big hug.

I tried to see past Mary-Kate and Brett. But I couldn't. I eventually just pushed my way past. The happy couple didn't even notice. I entered the room and glanced around for Ashley.

I saw her sitting on the couch quietly. I walked over to her and I sat down. "Hi." I said quietly.

"Hi." She said with a small smile.

Except for that short conversation on the phone we hadn't talked since I left, needless to say this was arkward. An uncomfortable silence followed and I was starting to freak. Until..

"That was rude!" Kathryn's voice came from the other side of Brett and Mary-Kate, who were now kissing again. I glanced over and saw her manage to push her was past them. She glanced back at them "They're not very happy to see each other are they?" She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. She then turned to me again "Now stop being rude and introduce me!"

"Oh!" Brett said, "Sorry Kathryn." He stood beside her and said. "Kathryn, meet Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen." He said, showing her who was who.

"Nice to meet you both." She said. "You two are twins, cool. Hope I don't mix you two up."

Ashley smiled and walked over to her. I think she did so to avoid me but maybe I'm just paranoid

I looked at Brett and he shook his head.

I leaned down to Mary-Kate. "You know about the.."

"Yea." She said knowing what I was going to say.

"And she told you about the..." I said.

"Does she...." I said

"Going to be a long day." I said.

"Oh yea."
