"Well, what re you waiting for? Go outside and enjoy your mobility." Brett said with a half smile.

"What about you?" I asked him.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'll be fine." He replied.

Just then Ashley came in and waited for me by the door.

I kissed him quickly then reluctantly left. His sigh echoed down the hallway as we walked out.

Ashley and I opened the doors and I took a deep breath of fresh air. It felt so good to be outdoors again and out of the depressing hospital! It was a beautiful sunny day and the birds sang happily from the tree branches. The gentle breeze added that certain touch that no summer's day should be without.

"What did you want to do first?" Ashley asked me. It was the first time we were just the two of us with nothing going wrong.

I glanced around "Just walk around for a while would be nice" I said with a smile.

"We can do that" Ashley said.

We started walking and it was the first time I saw just how manage damage the town had suffered from the flood.

It must have been heartbreaking for Ashley.. when our apartment building was flattened she lost all pictures and letters from Matt..

I turned to Ashley and I gave her a big hug and said "I love you sis."

She was surprised, but returned the hug. "I love you too, MK." We finished the hug and she asked "What was that about?"

I looked at her and said. "I just wanted to tell you just incase I don't have the chance."

"Don't you go all depressive talk on me Mary-Kate." She warned.

"Sorry" I apologized.

"Good, now let's find something to do." Ashley said, returning to her peppy self.

***Brett***

I got up from my bed with some effort. My muscles were very stiff and still very sore. But, I was determined to make the fastest recovery I could and lying in bed wasn't helping. I made it to my feet and started to walk around. It was hard and I had to hang onto the wall when I lost my balance.

A nurse came in and said "What do you think you're doing?" putting her hands on her hips.

"I'm walking around." I struggled.

"No you're not. You're supposed to stay in bed." She said grabbing my arm.
"Let me go!" I demanded.

"Don't make me call security." She threatened.

I grumbled a few words to myself. She grabbed my arm again and I shrugged it off. I walked to the bed on my own and I lay down, not making eye contact with her.

"If I get any more trouble like that out of you again, I'm going to tie you to the bed. I have no time for foolishness." She said sternly.

"That makes two of us!" I shot back.

She left the room and I went back to staring at the ceiling. This was the most frustrating thing in the world!

I heard a sound and glanced up.

Ryan was leaning against the wall just next to the door.

"Not expecting me?" He asked with a smirk.

"YOU!" I said swinging my legs over the side of the bed and going to get up. As I did a stab of pain hit me and forced me to lie down again.

"Not so tough anymore!" He said triumphantly.

"You're sick! You need help" I said glaring at him.

He ignored me "Who's going to help Mary-Kate now?" With that he left the room.

"NO!" I said forcing myself to ignore the pain I jumped out of the bed and started into the corrider. Ryan had disappeared but a nurse saw me.

"Get back into your bed!" She said

"You don't understand!"

"Get back now"

"No" I started to run past her but a security guard appeared and lugged me back to my room"

"NO!" I screamed.

I soon felt a sharp jab from a needle, guess it must have been some kind of tranquilizer, because I soon fell asleep.
