"Gonna be one of those days..." Brett said.
"Oh come on!" I said. "It's nothing bad. I thought we would go down to a small beach type shore that they have near the edge of town and swim in the river and spend the day in the sun." I pointed outside. "It's beautful out there and we should be enjoying it!"
They all looked at each other and considered the proposal. They all nodded their heads in agreement.

"Only one problem." Ashley said. "We don't have any bathing suits."

"Just swim in shorts and find a top." I said.

After a little preparation, we were all at the beach. The person who told me about it almost described it as being a small beach, but it almost reminded me of the Los Angeles beaches, only not as long. It was great to get away from it all.

"I have to admit, this is a great idea." Ashley said.

Mary-Kate and I both nodded in agreement. "See! I can have good ideas too!" I said proudly.

"What are you guys waiting for?" Ashley yelled.

"Let's go swimming!" "You guys go ahead. I'll join you all later." Mary-Kate said as she sat down on her bech towel. I saw Brett give me a nod and I understood that he wanted to talk to Mary-Kate alone.

***Brett***

I sat down beside Mary-Kate. She leaned her head on my shoulder and I put my arm around her. "I'm worried about you." I said to her.

"Why?" She looked up at me. "Well, you're not as peppy and active as you used to be. You would usually be the first one in the water." I looked into her eyes. "Is there anything you want to talk about?"

"I'm Fine!" she said scooting away from me and picking at the grass "I wish everyone would stop asking me that!"

"We're only concerned about you"

"Well, you don't need to be me! The doctors let me out didn't they? I'm FINE Brett"

***Mary-Kate***

I suddenly had another dizzy spell, but didn't want Brett to see. So, I lay back on the lawn and closed my eyes till it passed. He looked at me for a few minutes (I could tell from the shadow) then turned to watch Marc-Andre and Ashley in the water.

"Don't you want to go swim with them?" I asked Brett.

"I thought I would stay here and keep you company." He smiled.

"I'll be fine." I insisted. "Go. Play. I'll join you guys soon."

He sighed. "I'm going to go skip stones up stream." He said as he got up and walked away.

I sighed and watch Ashley and Marc-Andre as they laughed and splashed each other in the water.

***Ashley***

It was at times like this when it was almost possible to forget Matt was gone. (almost)

"Hey!" I shrieked as Marc-Andre suddenly splashed me. I'd been slowing easing myself into the water so my back hadn't been wet yet.

"Oops! Sorry" He said acting like it had been an accident.

I swiped some water at him "Oops, sorry" I said imitating his act. "EEK!" I shrieked running through the water as he came running after me.

He got to me and playfully tackled me into the water. I shrieked as the cold of the water hit me.

"Ow! My ears!" Marc-Andre said.

"You're so dead." I grinned.

"Uh oh." He said seconds before he started running away.

"Just wait until I catch you." I yelled. It's times like this I hate having short legs. He laughed at me and did a little dance. "LOOK OVER THERE!" I yelled.

He looked up, and this gave me enough time to reach him and tackle him. "Gotcha." I grinned. He picked me up in his arms. "My hero." I said. He twirled me around a couple of times and we both fell back into the water and laughed.

Mary-Kate who was watching on the shore laughed and we both turned and bowed for her.

"Encore! Encore!" She shouted.

***Brett***

'Those two sure have a talent for making noise' I thought as I threw a rock and it skipped across the water. I thew another one, this one so hard that it skipped straight across the river and into the bush on the other side. A bird flew out and flew away sqauwking at me angrily. I sighed.

"Sorry little bird." I said to myself.

I knew Mary-Kate is hiding something from me. I can see it in her eyes. Why won't she tell me what's wrong? I skipped another stone on the river. I tried thinking of things I could do for her to help her tell me what's the matter. I heard shuffling in the bushes behind me. I turned to see what it was and I saw a little chipmunk peek out.

I reached into my pocket and took out a little packet of crackers. I opened it and took a cracker out. I kneeled down on held it for the chipmunk. The critter timidly stepped up to it and smelled the cracker. It took it and started to munch happily right beside me. I took out the other cracker and started eating it.

"What can I do little buddy?" I said to the chipmunk.

It just looked up at me, tilting it's head to one side. "Language barrier" I said nodding my head "gotcha"

***Mary-Kate***

"So what's Brett doing?" Ashley asked sitting down next to me.

"Talking with a chipmunk last I checked" I responded in a bored tone.
