I felt tempted to leave him to drown, as he would have so willingly done to Mary-Kate, but I couldn't. It was too horrible. I started making my way across the slippery rocks. Almost falling a couple of times "Take my hand" I said reaching out to him.

He tried to grasp it, but he lost his grip on the rock and was swept away. I watched sadly as he disappeared down the river. Sighing, I walked back to Mary-Kate and took her in my arms. Shivering from the cold.

"B-Brett?" Mary-Kate said softly, waking up. "What happened?"

"Hey" I said kissing her on the forehead "You're ok now. Ryan kidnapped you"

"Oh yeah" she said remembering "my head really hurts" She said hardly moving.

"Come on" I said getting up and helping her back up the river "I'd carry you. But considering I'd likely slip and drop you, it might be a good idea you walk" I decided not to mention my arm so as not to worry her.

"Ok" she said sleepily, leaning her head against my shoulder.

I was starting to get worried, she was acting really strange!

We walked and Mary-Kate could hardly keep her eyes open. I had to wake her up as she was falling asleep while walking.

"Mary-Kate, you sure you're all right?" I asked her worriedly.

"Mmmhmm." She said half asleep. She was still shivering from the cold and the rain.

"Come on, let's walk a little faster." I urged her

By the time we got to the car it was dark. I helped her in and found a blanket in the back seat, which I wrapped around her shoulders. I drove back to town trying to ignore the pain in my arm and totally worrying about Mary-Kate, who by now had fallen asleep. I drove straight to the hospital decided to ring Marc-Andre and Ashley when I got there.

***Marc-Andre***

The phone rang and I ran to answer it.

"Hello?" I said.

"Marc-Andre, it's Brett."

"It's Brett!" I said to Ashley who was right beside me.

"Whataretheyok?how'smary-kate?" She asked so fast I could hardly undertstand.

"What happened?" I asked Brett.

"I found the note and deciphered the location. I chased Ryan through the woods and managed to save Mary-Kate. Ryan was washed down stream. Mary-Kate hurt her head, not sure how. She was acting weird so I brought her to the hospital. I'm waiting to hear from the doctor." He explained.

I told Ashley what I heard from Brett and she begged to go down to the hospital.

"We'll be there soon." I said and hung up.

I looked around for Ashley, then noticed the front door closing. She'd already started for the hospital. "ASHLEY! WAIT!" I called running out after her.

We arrived at the hospital and we went to the receptionist's desk.

"Mary-Kate Olsen?" Ashley asked her.

"Yes, the doctor's are examining her. There's a waiting room down the hall to the left." She said cheerfully.

"Thank you." I said after Ashley immediately ran off.

***Ashley***

I found Brett sitting in a chair, looking out the window.

I slowly walked over to him and sat down beside him. I smiled and said "Hi." Softly.

"Hi." He almost whispered and smiled back. I could tell he was very worried about Mary-Kate. Was it that bad? I noticed blood on his shirt.

I lifted up his left sleeve and saw he had a mild stab wound. "Brett!" I said. "You should get that looked after."

"Not important." He said, simply. "Besides, I might miss news on Mary-Kate while they fix it."

Marc-Andre joined us and greeted Brett. He saw the wound and he convinced a doctor to fix it in the waiting room, so Brett wouldn't miss any news. He flinched a couple of times from the pain.

"Aren't you going to say anything Brett?" Marc-Andre asked him.

"Ouch." Brett said plainly.

"Atleast he still has his sense of humor." Marc-Andre laughed.

Brett smiled.
