Sean clutched his back after he fell.

"Sean!" I said as I gave him a big hug.

"MK!" He said, sounding a little in pain. After I let him go I looked at him "Are you ok?"

"I just have a..." Sean said but was cut off by a girl walking up.

"Sean, are you ok... AH!" She said taking a step back.

She turned to run but Danny quickly grabbed her "Who are you?" He yelled holding her arms behind her back.

"It's ok." Sean said, putting an arm up. "She's a friend." He collapsed gasping for air.

Ashley checked on Sean. She felt his forehead and looked at his wound. "We've got to get him back to camp." She said.

"Is he ok?" I asked.

Brett suddenly went dramatically pale and I didn't need Ashley to answer "You two" I said to Danny and Damien "Quick help him" I helped Sean get up and the two guys helped him to move.

We heard the searchers approaching.

"Just a guess.. but they aren't friendly are they?" Amy asked.

Samantha shook her head.

"Ok then," Amy said. "Let's move fast!"

We ran throught he forest as fast as we could. It almost sounded like they were gaining on us, but we kept moving. There wasn't any way that we were going to give up.

We ran and the branches scratched our faces, stepping over falled logs and trees and after what seemed like an eternity, it seemed that we had lost them.

"Where should we go?" Damien asked Danny.

"Back underground" Sean said "The entrance is hidden and they'll never find us there"

We headed in that direction.

The latch was sitting silently in a small patch of bushes. It should provide good camouflage against them.

"Can you climb down?" Damien asked Sean.

"I'll try." Came his faint reply.

Damien went first, then Sean, then I insisted on following. I was halfway down the ladder when Sean reached the bottom. I couldn't see, but I heard him collapse.

"Sean!" I called.

I raced down the rest of the ladder and Ashley was right behind me.

I raced to his side. "Sean, Sean can you hear me?" I said to him. "Hurry up Ash!" I yelled over my shoulder.

She finally got down and checked on Sean. "He isn't doing good."

...Sean...

I woke up to the familiar dark surroundings and in seconds I knew where I was.

"Nooo" I groaned.

"Sean?" I heard Mary-Kate ask. Soon she was at my side.

"Mary-Kate." I managed to say. She smiled and gave me a hug.

"How are you feeling?" She asked. Brushing a stray strand of hair from my face.

"Never been better." I smiled. "Did we lose them?"

She nodded. "We made it down just in time."

I put my head back against the pillow "Good"

...Damien...

"I hate being back down here." Amy said, pouting as she looked around the all-too-familiar surroundings.

"Don't worry." I said, "It's only temporary."

"So this is how you all survived?" Samantha asked with curiosity.

"Yup, this pit in the ground" Amy said with distaste.

"Wow" Samantha was about to strain her neck, considering how much she was looking around her.

People started to crowd around now. They all wanted to know how Samantha had survived, what it was like on top, how it had changed, if we could survive.

"People, please! Calm down!" Amy said as the questions got louder. This was going to be a long day.

...Ashley...

"Mary-Kate, he's fine ok? You don't have to spent every second with him" I tried to reassure my sister.

"Well, I would kinda like to know how Samantha survived" Mary-Kate glanced at Brett "Do you think it's ok"

"It's fine" I said giving her a little push "Go on!"

She went and rejoined the others while I went to check on Sean. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel like a train just hit me." He said.

"Don't worry, you should be feeling better soon." I smiled.

...Mary-Kate...

I walked into the room just as Samantha was going to start explaining. I sat down beside Damien and Amy and listened contently as she started her story.

"You see, my parents were very wealthy when civilisation was standing. They both ran their own businesses. When they found out the meteor was going to hit Earth, they spent a fortune or three on a way to save my brother and I so that a peice of them may move on. It took a little while, but NASA was able to use the money and create a shuttle with stasis chambers. Stasis chambers are kind of like cryogenics, but without the freezing. It kept us 'frozen' in time and was set for a four and a half year timer. At the four and a half year mark, the shuttle would come back down to Earth, completely automated by the computer." She explained.

"What about the others that were with you?" One kid asked.

"They are our best friends, friends of the family and whoever could afford to be brought aboard." Samantha said.

"How were you sure it would work?" Another asked.

"We didn't." She said plainly. "But we didn't have anything to lose."

I was like totally shocked, and I could tell everyone else was too "Then how come we never heard about this?" I asked. "Like before the meteor hit"

"It was kept secret" Samantha explained "NASA was afraid it would cause a type of riot on the day"

So, in just one day our lives had changed dramatically. We weren't the only people on the planet. And now it seemed... I wasn't the only girl in Seans life.

...Third Person Interlude...

"What do you mean you didn't find them?!" Jason roared.

Shane backed away nervously "They got away" He said quietly

"HOW DID THEY GET AWAY!?" Stephen yelled.

"I don't know" Shane shrugged "They... They... vanished" He admitted.

"2 people can NOT vanish into thin air! FIND THEM!" Stephen yelled.

"Y-Y-Yessir" Shane nodded and quickly departed.

...Ashley...

"Is it just my imagination or is Mary-Kate Jealous?" I asked Amy as we observed Mary-Kate observing Sean and Samantha who were talking together in the main room.

"I think she is" Amy said with a chuckle.

"The question is... does she have reason to be?" I asked seriously.

...Mary-Kate...

What are they talking about? Why are they sitting so close? Argh! How I wish I was a fly on the wall. I heard Ashley and Amy laughing while they watched me.

I stomped over "What?"

"Nothing." Ashley said, snikering.

"Yeah, absolutely nothing." Amy agreed.

I eyed them supiciously. I looked back to where Sean and Samantha were sitting... THEY'RE GONE.

"I can't take this anymore!" I almost shouted. I turned and stormed out of the room. I made my way back to my room where I planned on sulking. I was surprised to find that by the time I got there I was so tired I thought I'd collapse. Oh no, please don't say I'm getting sick again.

...Sean...

Samantha and I were walking through the tunnels as we continued to chat. It was an aimless conversation about everything and anything.

"So, you mean that... Mary-Kate?" I said, seeing Mary-Kate clutching a wall. I ran over to her as fast as I could. "Are you ok Mary-Kate?"
