Brett was spending a lot of time with the king instead of training, which he left to the leader of the Hresnan army.

When Brett returned, Mary-Kate approached him. Brett smiled and gave her a kiss. Brett could tell Mary-Kate had something on her mind. Mary-Kate spoke first.

“Brett? Is everything ok?” Mary-Kate asked. “Are you mad at me?”

“No! Of course not Mary-Kate.” Brett said right away. “Why would you ever think that?”

“Well, you’re so distant lately. I was wondering why.” She said as she looked at him in the eyes. Brett couldn’t ever get out of the situation when she gave him that look.

Brett sighed. He had to tell her. “I was going to tell you tonight, but...” Brett started. “MK, I’m going back to Arcadia.”

Mary-Kate had a look of fear in her eyes. “What? Are you completely insane? You can’t go back! I won’t let you!” She cried and held him tightly. “I won’t let you.”

“Mary-Kate.” Brett said as he looked at her. “I have to go back. If there is any chance for us to succeed in this, we need to have the people of Arcadia fighting with us. I will sneak back into the kingdom and spread the word to get ready for a rebellion. The date has been set for next month.”

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” She demanded to know. “I thought communication was one of the most important things in a relationship.”

“I... I wanted to save you a few days of worrying. Mary-Kate, please. I only had your best interests in mind. You have to believe me.” His eyes had tears forming up. “I never wanted to hurt you.”

Mary-Kate saw that he was being truthful. She rarely saw him like this. Usually nothing could touch him and he was almost crying cause he thought he hurt her.

“When do you leave?” Mary-Kate asked softly.

“Tomorrow night.” Brett said.

“Who is going with you?” She asked.

“I’m going alone. I know the territory and Marc-Andre needs to stay here to keep an eye on things.” Brett said. “I just need one thing.”

Mary-Kate looked up at him with a puzzled look. “Anything.” She said.

“It is customary for a knight to have the colors of his lady, such as a colors scarf. I would like one from you to put on my sword, so I would have a piece of you wherever I go.” Brett said.

She leaned up and gave him a long kiss. They just stood there, holding each other for a while, forgetting everything around them.

Ashley started to feel lonely since she was the only one without someone to love. She wasn’t as perky as she usually was, spending most of the day reading or doing small things and the group understood. She decided to go for a walk and clear her head.

The sun was setting and Marc-Andre was getting worried. He hadn’t seen Ashley in hours. It wasn’t like her to go off without telling them. When Brett and Mary-Kate got back from a picnic, Marc-Andre asked them if they had seen Ashley. Both shook their heads.

“I’ll go tell the king.” Marc-Andre said.

“I’ll go check around the popular places for her.” Brett said.

“I’ll stay here incase she comes back.” Mary-Kate said, shaking a little.

“Mary-Kate?” Brett said as he felt her hand shaking in his. “What’s wrong sweetheart?”

“You how sometimes twins can be really close, so close that they can ‘feel’ things about the other?” Mary-Kate said.

Both men nodded their heads, not liking where this is going.

“Well, I’m not getting a very good feeling right now.” Mary-Kate said as she started to cry.

Brett gave her a comforting hug, trying to calm her down. “We will find her Mary-Kate. I promise you, we will find her.” He said as he separated himself from his girlfriend.

Marc-Andre gave his sister a big hug and a kiss on the forehead. “We will meet back here in two hours, max.”

He and Brett left to search for Ashley. The air was colder than usual with a light wind picking up. Both men ran as fast as their feet could carry them. After each passing minute they were getting more and more worried about Ashley.
