Ariel
already listed so many of my very favorite fics. So anything on her
list is worth reading if you haven't already.
So I made this list of some others I like and have tried not to repeat
any.
An AU bookverse Lord of the Rings fanfiction
in which Merry holds the
Ringbearer captive at Crickhollow "for the salvation of the Shire,"
with baleful results for all.
Merry will be corrupted, Pippin
will be conflicted, Frodo will start to break, Sam will try to save
him, and each of the hobbits will be challenged and changed in
unexpected ways. Almost never-ending story. STILL a WIP! I still have
to read it all but lots of tormented Frodo and the infamous origin of
Evil!Merry. Bizzare! VERY AU!
The
malevolent voice still lingered in his mind, over a year after the
Ring went into the Fire, till Frodo felt he must be driven mad by it.
Could he buy a few hours of peace, with a bottle of brandy? Another
Way of Leaving

If Frodo had
not been given the choice to go to Valinor, what then? His
wounds are not healing, and the shadow left by the Ring torments him.
Is death his only escape, or might there be some other way? Suicidal
depression.
Parody of all those Frodo healer fics wherein Frodo tries to elude his
caretakers without much success. You have to scroll down the page but
there are lots of good stories on Lily's site.
Mostly Merry but all the Hobbits are there. Merry develops an
appreciation of being short in Rivendell whilst being surrounded by
tall beautiful Elven women.
Funny, funny, funny!
Not any Hobbits at all. An amazing Faculty/X Files Sci-fi series
following a traumatized, Rainman-like Casey and Intrepid Zeke in the
aftermath of the events in The Faculty. Only in this version Casey did
not become a renowned alien killer but lost most of his mind and has
become one of the best and most heartbreaking partially autistic heros
of all time. The baddies from X-files as well as Scully have made guest
appearances. So well-written by these two amazing ladies that it
really ought to be published. An ongoing WIP. I love it!
