First of all... uh.. this isn't going to be the exact interviews because that would be plagiarism. And NOBODY likes plagiarism. So I'm going to freestyle it a little... I'll still use exact quotes, but hey, freestyling is fun, freestyling is good, and freestyling will not make your fingers swell (i hope!)... On with the interviews!

Since I haven't ever really...talked to Colin... I can't tell you for sure why the line of questioning in his interviews is sporadic and spazmodic... but I'll just tell you what the interviews tell me.

When Colin was asked about his preference in underwear, he said that it was boxers... However, he has a soft spot in his heart for Underoos:

"But dude! If they brought back Underoos... Dude, if they brought back Underoos, I would rock the Underoos. Like He-Man and Transformers and G.I. Joe and even like Dukes of Hazzard. I would rock the Underoos if they made them in adult sizes. But they don't. I would totally rock those, dude. "
I don't blame him. I wish they made girl Underoos. That would so be the epitome of coolness... It'd be like "Are you wearing Underooettes?" "No." "Then you're not cool." Okay.. but anyway. back to the interview....

Oftentimes, children of famous actors change their last names so they don't have to live in the shadow of their famous parents or whatever. But did Colin go fo that cop-out? Heck, no. He stood by his dad and kept his last name. It was a little bit of a predicament, yes, but not that difficult of a decision in the end.

"I mean it was never a big thing for me. I paid it about two seconds worth of thought and then that was really sort of it. Ultimately it really doesn't matter. And also then I think it doesn't confuse people so much 'cause I remember going 'Wait a minute. You mean to tell me that Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez are brothers?' I didn't want to come up with some generic Johnny Bravo type name. I'm not that cool, so I might as well stick with my birth name."

He was fairly recently in the well-known movie Orange County. Colin actually spent his freshman year in Orange County, so the movie sort of rang true on a personal level.

"Me saying 'I've got to get out of Orange County' [as the character Shaun Brumder] is extremely personal to me," remarks Hanks.

"There are two parts of Shaun that I can extremely relate to. One is the feeling of being trapped in Orange County and wanting to get out; feeling sort of suffocated. And two, realizing that my time spend in Orange County is a huge part of who I am and now I am so grateful that I had that experience, 'cause I learned so much about myself that first year. And it wasn't so much just 'cause it was my freshman year of college, I mean it was that, but also just learning to be as happy as you can even if you're not in the happiest place on Earth. I'm really glad I had the experience I had down in Orange County and I've made some friends that I love very dearly that hopefully I'll have for the rest of my life."

Sounds like Colin got a lot out of Orange County the movie and Orange County the place. As much as Colin loved doing OC, my friends love quoting it about 100 times more... So thank you, Colin, for doing what you do. Here's hoping they launch an adult Underoos line.

A thousand gratitudes goes to Film Force where I got these Colin quotes.
