8/5/01-Review of their concert at Santa Monica-Most of the people that were there to see Dream Street came around 1:00. All the girls, ages ranging from 10-16 were waiting by the stage for Dream Street. One girl ran around the back of the stage to the parking lot, and saw that their van was there. She ran and told her friends, and all the girl started to run over to the parking lot. All of us waited there for the guyz to come out of the van. Jesse, Greg, Frankie and Matt came out and all stood in a circle looking at the fans standing 5 feet in front of them. Chris was sitting on the back van bumper. He had the biggest smile on his face. Finally, Chris joined the other guyz. A couple of girls went up to Greg to give him a hug. One girl (who happened to be my friend) pushed someone, who looked like their manager, out of the way to give Jesse a navy blue Yankees hat. As she handed it to him, he had on the biggest smile I have ever seen on him. A couple other girls there ran up to the guyz and gave them letters. As their manager told all the girls that they had to leave, Dream Street got into their van to go around to the other side of the building.
The group that came on before Dream Street was called Gimme 5. The group was made of 2 guyz and 3 girls, all of the age of 12. They were, Scotty, Chris ((C.J.)), Tiffany, Agina, and Cassy. They sang 2 songs, one of which I can't remember the name...but the second song was called "Bet You Didn't Know." It was a cute song. You can hear it on Radio Disney and request it there too. Or you can go to their website www.gimme5.tv
As Dream Street walked out of the building toward the stage, all the girls were screaming their head off! Dream Street introduced themselves and the first song they sang was "Lets Get Funky Tonight." Starting at the left side of the stage was Frankie, then Matt, Jesse, Chris and Greg. They pretty much stayed in that same order. I was standing in the front row, with my stomach against the stage. Chris happened to be dancing straight in front of me. No lie, he was right in front of me! Well, all the guyz did an amazing job with that song. When I was taking pictures of Chris, most of the time, he would look straight at my camera so I can take a pic of him. After they finished that song, Greg got into the next song by asking who has the cd, if they know the songs, if they know the words to the songs, if they know "Sugar Rush," and if they like that song. After he asked that, they got straight into "Sugar Rush." Again, they did an amazing job on the that song too. Right when there was about 20 seconds left of the song, the power went out! They didn't get to finish the song! At first, the guyz seemed confused about what had happened. Jesse went to go talk to the guyz in charge, and they told him that the power went out. Greg tried to get the crowd to be quiet, so he could tell them what happened, but they all were still screaming. He couldn't get them to be quite because the mics were out. It was pretty funny at the time. Well, for about 45min, the guyz got to sign autographs. I was the first person to actually give something to one of the guyz. After I did, that's when people were giving things for them to sign. When Chris came over to where I was, I handed him a pair of sunglasses. He asked me if they were for him, and I nodded my head yes. I was so in shock that I couldn't even say a word. He took them from me and said thanks, and as my hand was coming down, he grabbed my hand and kissed it! :) I was so happy. Chris Trousdale actually kissed my hand cuz I gave him glasses...lol. Then people were giving them things to sign. One girl gave her backpack to Greg to have him sigh it. Well for this next thing I'm gonna tell you, I guess you can/should say that Matt and Chris are clumsy...a girl gave her cd to Matt to sign, and as was coming back from signing it, he dropped it on the floor. And with Chris, as he was leaving, he ran into the table where the DJ was...it looked like he was gonna forget the sunglasses I gave him and the letter another girl gave him. But I think since he ran into the table, he remembered. Well, as Dream Street left, all the girls were wondering if they were going to come back. The bad news is, they didn't. But the good news is, some of the girls that were there that day went to go see them at the Topanga Mall for a meet and greet the next day! - Review by...Elissa ((webmaster))
