Biography
Brookside
Ann Marie Davies was born on Merseyside on the 22nd October 1975. She studied
Theatre Studies and Performing Arts at college and to help pay her way through
the course took up modelling. She entered many beauty pageants, winning a
number, including Miss Manchester (see photo above), Miss Merseyside, Miss
Wirral Globe and she made it through to the final of the Miss United Kingdom
contest. She continued to model whilst travelling the world as an air
stewardess.
Whilst she was the reigning Miss Wirral Globe she took part in a short film
called Skinflick in 1998 but her big break came when she landed the part
of Katrina Evans in top TV soap Brookside. She had a number of strong
storylines during her time in "the Close", including having an
abortion, suffering the grief and trauma which went with her boyfriend Jason
being blown up, and she opened a crèche. To cap it all her dad was played by
comic and game show host Les Dennis!
Life After Brookside
After leaving Brookside in 2001 she appeared in the Beach Fever
Christmas Special with Suggs and she was given a different acting
challenge each week on Granada Men and Motors show The Reverend Bob Torque
Show.
She made her stage debut in the title role of the pantomime Cinderella
in Crewe playing opposite Keith Harris, who was being followed around at the
time by BBC TV presenter Louis Theroux for one of his shows. Her most recent
role was playing Aladdin which broke box office records at Rotherham's
Civic Theatre in 2002/03.
