Excuse me: is THAT DARVA CONGER in People Magazine's year-end issue? The annual 25 Most Intriguing People of the Year lists Darva on page 87 of issue Dec 25, 2000-Jan 1, 2001.
Well, of COURSE Darva certainly qualifies in this list hailing the people we MUST keep watching--and Darva, no matter how many people complain, is eminently watchable. Approve or disapprove, she gets our attention.
Well, I'M always interested! Even if I wasn't writing a book ( and this website ) on Rick and Darva, I'd be fascinated! I think that people are curious by nature, and are always on the lookout for somebody to tantalize them. Many, though, had resented her entr?into public conciousness, feeling that Darva was the equivalent of bad junk food: no true value. However, I've always felt that Darva would come up a major personage, surprising everyone--including herself! In People, her new look is certainly a smack in the eye: gone is the glacial, wide-eyed, wide-smiled, slightly scared expression, familiar to us all. In it's place is a softer, more natural look. The hairstyle has obviously been recommended by a professional. Never again will Darva sport a hairdo like that one, for the 2000 Oscars ( which hadn't suited her, being too startling a change, in fact, appearing rock-hard, despite the soft-seeming curls. I DID like her long, sleek, usual former 'do ). Gone also, is the faintly awkward, tomboyish, stiff gait and body stance. In its place is a confident, sensual woman, comfortable in front of the camera, and with her sexuality and beauty.
Darva Conger has a new website: Darva's House, her own, official, personal website, which is authored exclusively by Darva, herself! The site is styled as a "house," with each link-site set up as "rooms." These include: Health and Fitness Room, where Darva gives us a weekly work-out tip; Kitchen, with weekly recipes, dining places, and advice on nutrition; Pool, with swimwear, travel, etc.; Bathroom, to discuss bath products, and makeup; Entertainment room, to discuss Darva'a forays into show business, and where she reviews books and movies, notice of her upcoming appearances, and most importantly, her autobiography, doled out in installments. There is a gallery of photos, exclusive to Darva's House; and a Community Involvement section which highlights a different charity every month. There's even an open daily e-mail section, where those who write Darva an intriguing enough e-mail gets their letter, and Darva's answer, posted onsite!
Darva Conger has good reason to be proud of herself! I think this website will usher in a new era for Darva, who will emerge triumphant in whatever undertaking she tries. She's sure to earn the respect of those who'd not been impressed before!

Sadly, Rick Rockwell has yet to create a comparably good site, satisfied with that which he'd created some years ago. But his site, designed as a resum?for Corporations interested in employing him, is dull, with a poor array of photos, that do not do Rick's handsome looks justice. Whereas Darva's site ambitiously promises a new "Thought For the Day," Rick's features the same old jokes, month after month. The problem is, Rick is TOO smart and independant. He tries to do too much on his own, and is therefore starved of time and energy. Likely, Darva co-created her site with an expert. Rick would try to do it all, himself, which is why, ironically, his career will stall out, while Darva's, with the help of brilliant advisors, gains momentum, and soars!
However, since the pattern of Rick's career, lately, has been to regain momentum, with Darva's every public foray, this site--and Darva's expected career boost-- will benefit him, periphally. I guess we can expect a revamped version of "The Annulment Tour" to recommence next year. But Rick will more likely name it "The Book Tour"; for Rick's autobiography is due to hit the shelves sometime in 2001. That is, once he finds a publisher. It appears that many publishing houses had presumedly turned it down, due to their notion that "Rick and Darva" are so-o over.
Not so fast, Bucko. As I've predicted, Darva has been merely cocooning, preparing to reemerge publicly in a big way. We can expect intense interest, once she decides what she wants, and how she wants to proceed with a career. Gossip has been that an acting career is Darva's goal. Since she IS so very watchable, no doubt she will attract a huge audience. I'm looking forward to it. After all, I've got my own book to complete, and I wanted to cap it with success stories for both Rick and Darva. So good fortune to you both!

[ And take heart, Rick. Even "Survivor's" Rich Hatch had a hard time with the publisher. He got no advance, had to take profits from the back end, from sales, only. You'll get interest, too. Don't sell yourself short, though. ]
