How I got Started/
As a little girl I had always enjoyed dancing. I remember
waking up & I'd turn on the radio and dance before I would sit in front of the
T.V with a huge bowl of cereal. At local fairs, being amazed by the dancers, I
was easy to find sitting in the front row watching the girls dance. When I was
7 yrs. old, my parents put me in gymnastics. I was advanced for my age so
I moved up a class level and I loved it! I stayed in gymnastics for about 6
months. My gym teacher was a Saintsation & because of her schedule,
classes were being canceled a lot. My parents gave me the bad news that I
couldn't go anymore. I cried for a week. At home, in my room, I was always
making up my own dances. Once, at a day care that I had gone to when I
was about 10, they let us put on a mini talent show for fun. I had danced to
Amy Grant's "Baby,Baby". I was making up the moves as I went, and I won
the dance category. The next couple of years, my parents let me join a
dance studio. I couldn't believe it I was so excited! But again I had to leave
because my teacher had conceived & decided not to teach. In the meantime,
I continued to make up my own dances & taught them to my friends (a
couple of times we'd make up dances together). Sometimes we'd perform
them in front of the family. At 17, I joined another studio and I learned a lot
there. My ballet teacher, Ms. Leigh Ann, was a Rockette. I got my 1st taste
of doing dance competitions. I loved competing! I actually made it a full
year there. Finally, the following year I joined (yet again) another studio
where I'm currently completing my 7th year in dance. I'm still at the
same studio, assisting my teacher with a few classes. During my 5th year of dance, I recieved my Dance Teacher Certificate from the studio. I finally found a
studio that I really like. And that's pretty much it. I just dance when
I have free time.
