AH : I usually evaluate the script, because no matter how good the director is, if the script isn't well written enough that I can get a "feel" for the character I'm playing, it's not going to 'work' for me.
Q#6} Do you have a favorite director in film, if you have one?
AH: James Cameron.
Q#7.} Name any actors/actresses who you always wanted to work with but haven't done so as of yet. These folks have to be among the living.
AH: Jeff Daniels, Dame Judi Dench, Christopher Reeve, Della Reese, Carrie-Anne Moss. Jeff Daniels is cute, for an old guy. Dame Judi is THE consummate actress. Christopher Reeve has so much courage and presence it'd be wonderful working with him. Della Reese is a very firm believer in her faith, and it gives her an air of calm that I've rarely ever seen in anyone connected with Hollywood. And Carrie-Anne Moss because I saw her in Matrix and in Red Planet, and I think she kicks a$$!!!
Q#8.} You often said that Dick "The " Wolf doesn't
like you going AWOL for other films, yet you did "Good Advice" with Charlie Sheen. Therefore,
does location play a factor? i.e. New York vs. LA
or Canada vs. USA?
AH : Location, contract terms, filming schedule, and the amount of studio rivalry between the two. When you watch 'Good Advice', somewhere on there, in teeny print, it says "Angie Harmon appears courtesy of Wolf Productions."
Q.#9} Are you more intrested in indie films or Major
Hollywierd pictures?
AH : I'll basically take what catches my eye. If it's well written, the directing's good, and the story is something I can get into, then yeah, I'll do it. The good thing is that I get to make most of my career decisions myself. My agent allows me to do that instead of him making the decisions for me. I mean, sure, I'll ask his opinion on whether I'll take a part or not, and he did drag me into the Law & Order audition, but the decisions so far have been good ones, and I thank him for that.
Q. I noticed that after being on a series for a certian amount of time, some actors go an extra mile and direct an episode of that show. I noticed also that no L&O actor has done this. Does this ever come up-even if Dick Wolf shoots the idea down?
A. I don't think the question actually came up, ever. Everything I know about directing could fit under my pinky finger and still leave room leftover.
Q.:What was it like -really like- the first time you auditioned for L&O? The first day on the set?
A: IT WAS NERVEWRACKING! Here I am, skinny, awkward Angie Harmon with only a few failed shows in my resume, joining an established cast on one of the most popular shows on TV. I mean, you can't help but be nervous, in that situation. All the other cast members trying to be friendly, while at the same time sizing you up, looking you over critically, checking your 'star' qoutient, wondering if you'll be there for a while, a few seasons, or just a few episodes...Jesse said he felt much the same way when he joined up. Because you know, no matter how you vow to yourself you won't do it to anyone else when you get to where they are, you find yourself doing it unconsciously. Sam made a teasing remark about my BWN work that first day, and I went home and cried, I was so humiliated. He apologised for it later, promised he didn't mean it, but it still sticks in both our minds. I'm afraid to say I made the same faux pas the first day Jesse was there, and I still blush. It broke the ice, but I'm not proud to say I did it.
Q.:The writers give you a lot of -shall we say, "quotables"-i.e. "Let's Hang 'em all!"...
off the top, what to date is your favorite "tagline"?
A. There have been so many. I think that one you mentioned has to be one of my fave's, because it exemplifies everything Abbie is and fights for. The other one that sticks in my mind was from last season, "It was an accident, it was suicide, it was a breathmint.. this guy is giving me a headache."
Q.} Is it ok to post any of your answers at my webpage (if you say no, they won't be there, it's as simple as that, if yes, which q's?)
AH: Yes, it's okay, and feel free to post whichever ones you want to. I didn't mention anything private, so I don't have to worry about my privacy being compromised.
