Chapter 46

Belle sighed happily as she continued to push the baby stroller through Salem Place. This is just how she had imagined what marriage and motherhood would be like. She couldn’t have been happier.

"You’re Isabella Black - Dr. Evans’ daughter aren’t you?" a woman walking in the opposite direction asked. She stopped and smiled as she leaned down to get a better look into the stroller that Belle was pushing. Belle nodded.

"Actually its Isabella Brady now, but yes, I’m her daughter."

"I was one of her patients a few years ago and I recognize you from the picture she had sitting on her desk. You have such a beautiful baby. Is she your only child?"

Belle looked at the woman somewhat strangely.

"No, I have a son also – they’re twins."

"Oh…that must explain the stroller for two then. Is your son with his father?" Belle wrinkled her brow, unsure. Both Allison and Josh were supposed to be in the stroller.

"No he’s not with my husband, he’s with…" Belle moved from where she had been standing behind the stroller, frantically looking for Josh who was not laying in the spot behind his sister.

"My baby!" she cried. "Oh God, he’s gone! My little boy’s gone…GONE!"

Belle sat up wide-awake. "Belle?" Shawn asked from his spot beside her. "Honey? Are you okay?" Belle nodded as she eased herself back down to where she had been laying.

"Yeah…I just had that same dream again, that’s all." Shawn wrapped his arms around Belle and pulled her close.

"It won’t be long now Belle, I promise. I bet it will only be a matter of a day or two before we have Josh back home with us where he belongs."

"I hope so…honestly I had kind of thought that your father would have already called by now saying he had him…wishful thinking, huh?"

"No…actually, in the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but think the same thing. I mean, I thought that my life was over when we sat in the hospital and held what we thought was Josh’s body in our arms. And just the idea that Josh could be out there somewhere alive, it just makes everything have a totally new perspective." Belle nodded as she snuggled deeper into the curve of Shawn’s arms. She placed her head on Shawn’s bare chest.

"I always feel so safe in your arms Shawn. Like anything could happen and no matter what, you’ll do whatever you have to take protect me and the twins." Shawn wrapped his arms tighter around his wife and was just about to speak when he was interrupted by the sound of the telephone. Belle moved away as Shawn sat up and grabbed the phone.

"Hello?" Belle was instantly able to see that it was Bo by the way Shawn’s face lit up. The conversation only lasted a few minutes before Shawn hung up.

"Well?" Belle asked looking at Shawn expectantly. A small smile developed on Shawn’s face.

"They got the evidence they needed. Now all they have to do is wait for the search warrant to go through and then their go in and get him. Dad said he bet that we’d have him home within the next few hours." Belle squealed as she threw her arms around Shawn’s neck.

"Oh Shawn!" Belle gasped her heart overloaded with joy. She leaned back and noticed that not only was she laughing and crying but so was Shawn. It wasn’t before long that Shawn lost his balance, pulling Belle down onto the bed with him, landing in much the same position that they had when they had skated together at Shawn’s parents’ wedding. Shawn reached up and brushed away a strand of Belle’s hair behind her ears.

"Deja vu," Belle whispered as she looked down into Shawn’s beautiful chocolate eyes. She still found herself grow weak when she saw the love and devotion that was reflected there each time he looked at her.

"Yeah…so I guess this is where we kiss huh?"

"I guess," Belle said, echoing her words from that night, just two years earlier. "But this time Tough guy, you better not chicken out on me." Shawn’s only response was to smile as he slowly guided her head to his.

Chapter 47

The sound of car doors slamming echoed through the streets as several Salem police units stopped in front of the Dimeria mansion. Bo was the first one out of the cars, quickly followed by Abe and Roman. The three men gathered in front of the police vehicles.

"Okay, here’s the plan," Bo began as he shrugged on his holster. Abe and Roman stood by and listened. Usually in a case like this they were the ones in charge. But they knew how important this was to Bo since it was his grandson. They decided it best to let him run the show for now.

"What I miss?" John asked as he approached the group somewhat out of breath.

"John, what are you doing here? This is official police business…" Bo held up his hand to quiet Roman so that John explain why he was there.

"Belle called and told me what was going on. When I got to the police station and saw that hardly anyone was there, I knew this was where you had to be." Roman took a step closer to John and puffed out his chest as if he were ready for battle.

"Now wait just a minute. Where do you get off…"

"This is my grandchild and I am staying," John said calmly as he looked over at Roman.

"Roman," Bo said interceding. "John stays." Roman looked over at Bo in disbelief. He saw the seriousness in his eyes and realized that he should probably back of. He took a step back and shook his head to show that he did not approve. Bo turned to John and quickly filled him in on what was to take place.

"Okay. Everybody clear about what’s going to go down?" The three men nodded. "Good. Now let’s go make sure Dimeria knows that he’s never to mess with the Brady family again."

Belle looked up nervously as the door to the police station opened – seeing that its was only an officer coming in for shift change caused Belle to look down defeated. She and Shawn had arrived at the police station an hour earlier in hopes that it wouldn’t be long before they would be able to hold Josh in their arms once again. Things seem to be taking longer than they anticipated though because it had been almost a half of an hour since they had last heard anything.

"I’m sure they’re be here any minute," Hope said as she walked over and placed her hand on her shoulder. Hope sighed as she watched Shawn pace back and forth in front of her nervously jiggling Allison, who lay asleep in his arms.

"I don’t know how that poor granddaughter of mine is able to sleep the way you are bouncing her back and forth Shawn. Here give her to me." Shawn walked over and gently placed Allison into his mother’s arms.

"I’m sorry Mom, I’m just nervous. What’s taking them so long?"

"I’m not sure. But you’ll father and John will do whatever it takes to bring Josh home to us." Shawn nodded as he tried to calm his nerves. He knew that his father and John would do whatever it takes to get Josh back to them – and hopefully bring Dimeria down in the process.

Stefano looked up from his game of chess as he heard commotion in the front hallway of his mansion. He jumped up as he saw several men invade his house.

"What’s the means of this…Hey…you can’t go up there!" he shouted as he watched two police officers rush past others who had gathered in the foyer and head up the steps. Stefano moved to follow but was stopped by Bo and John.

"Stop. We have a search warrant and whether you cooperate or not we are going tear apart every inch of this house until we find where you’re hiding my grandson."

"You’ll do know such thing. I assure you that I have had nothing to do with your grandson’s disappearance."

"Well I’m sure you won’t be surprised when I say that I don’t believe you." Bo replied as he crossed his arms over his chest. Stefano shrugged. John stepped past Bo and using one hand, he grabbed Stefano by the neck, pushing him up against the wall.

"My daughter and her husband have been hell through these past few weeks. Losing a child is hard for any couple, much less two that are still kids themselves. Now I know you have something to do with what’s going on. So you’re going to let these men search for as long and as hard as they want until their satisfied that Josh is no where on this property. If Josh isn’t here, we’re going to search every peace of property you own until that baby is found. And if that child shows any signs of neglect or abuse, you’re going to have the two of us to answer to. Is that understood?" Stefano raised his hands in defeat.

"Fine, fine." Bo walked over and placed a hand on John’s shoulder. John nodded and let him go. Stefano shrugged and straighten his clothes that John had put into disarray.

"Hey Bo," Abe called from where he stood at the top of the steps. "There’s something up here you might want to see."

Belle stood at the window of the police station and glazed out into the night. Her life in the past year had gone from one of relative normalcy to one that rivaled the storylines on soaps. But as she looked back on the past year, she knew that there was very little that she would have liked to be different. The time she spent pregnant were some of the happiest in her life and being married to Shawn just made it all the more worth wild. She still found it hard to believe that this was the same guy who, just two years earlier, swore that falling in love so young was not an option.

"Belle?" Shawn said as he placed his hands on her shoulders. Belle turned as her daydreamed was interrupted.

"Yeah?"

"My Dad just called. They’ve found Josh."

Chapter 48

Belle fell into Shawn’s arms as tears of relief fell down her face. "Oh Shawn!" Belle pulled her face away from where she had buried it in his chest. "Wait a minute…he’s okay, isn’t he?" Shawn nodded as he pulled Belle back into the comfort of an embrace.

"He seems to be. Their going to take him over to the hospital and have him checked out just to be sure."

"When will we get to see him?"

"Right now if you want. My mom said that she’d stay here with Allison while we headed to the hospital." Belle smiled and grabbed Shawn’s hands.

"Come on…let’s go see our little boy."

As Belle and Shawn ran into the hospital they saw Bo and John standing in the waiting area.

"Daddy!" Belle cried as she through herself into her father’s arms. "Did you see Josh? Is he okay?" John nodded as he held his daughter in his arms.

"Yeah honey he seems to be. Dr. Wesley’s taking a look at him right now."

"We can never thank you guys enough," Shawn said as he hugged his father. Bo smiled as he returned his son’s hug.

"Shawn, you know John and I would have done whatever we had to do to make sure that our grandson was away from Dimera and back home where he belongs." John nodded as Shawn moved to thank his father in-law, while Belle hugged Bo.

"Ah, excuse me," Dr. Craig Wesley said as he approached the group. Belle turned and immediately felt the tears begin to pool in the corner of her eyes as she noticed the small bundle in his arms.

"He’s fine," Craig said as he handed the small baby over to his mother. "He seems to have been pretty well taken care of."

"Thank goodness," Belle said, her eyes never leaving the baby’s face. Shawn stood next to her, his arm wrapped around her shoulder. He reached down and traced the baby’s small hand as if he still found it hard to believe that he was really there.

"I’ll see you later," Craig said excusing himself so that the couple could have sometime alone with their baby.

"I can’t believe it Shawn," Belle whispered as she continued to stare down at the little boy. "Even when I knew he might be alive, I still never let myself imagine that I would ever hold him in my arms again." Shawn leaned in and kissed Belle’s temple, then turned to his father.

"What about Stefano?"

"They took him and one of his men in on kidnapping charges. As long as he doesn’t find a way to get out of them, he should be locked up for awhile."

"But what happens then? He’ll just pick up right where he left off."

"Come on Shawn, let’s not worry about that now. What’s most important is that we have our little boy back." Shawn nodded as he placed his arm back around Belle’s shoulder.

"Your right. Let’s get going. There’s two very anxious grandmothers at the station waiting to see this little guy." Belle looked up at Shawn, smiling widely. Shawn leaned down, kissed her lips gently and led her out of the hospital.

"Babies mine don’t you cry…"

Shawn smiled from the doorway of the nursery as he watched Belle as she sat in the rocking chair trying to get the twins to sleep.

"Babies mine dry your eye…"

He didn’t know why Belle always said that she couldn’t sing – he had never heard anything more beautiful than the sweet melody that was coming out of her mouth.

"Baby you’re mine…"

Shawn walked over and took one of the babies from Belle’s arms so that she could stand. He walked over and placed his son into the bassinet as Belle did the same with Allison.

"They’re beautiful aren’t they Shawn?" Belle whispered as she snuggled up to her husband. The two continued to stand there and watch the two babies sleep.

"They are. Every time I look at them I know that we made the right decision getting married and having the babies. And now after making it through the past few weeks I know that we’ll be able to make it through anything life throws at us."

"I know…and whatever happens I want you to remember one thing," Belle replied.

"Oh yeah, what’s that?" Shawn asked as he looked down at his wife.

"That I love you more than anything in the world." Shawn smiled as he pulled her close and kissed her gently.

"I love you too Belle. I love you too."
