Chapter 1

Mimi Lockhart quickly searched through her purse looking for her cell phone which was ringing to "Take Me Out To the Ball Game." She hated the song and suspected her little brother Connor of changing the settings. She had yet to figure out how to change it back so she was stuck with the annoying song. She managed to dig the phone out from the bottom of her purse as it started the famous baseball theme for the third time.

"Hello."

She heard a loud sigh on the other end before the person spoke up and she knew it was Jan, no one else responded that way. "It's about time you picked up. What took you so long?"

"I couldn't get to my phone, it was lost in all this stuff I-"

"Whatever. I need you to meet me at Salem Place in ten minutes."

Mimi checked her watch. "Ten minutes from now? It's barely noon and I have to meet Belle later and get ready for the party."

Jan sighed again. "Listen, I have an even better plan now than I had before. I don't want to say it over the phone. Ghoul Girl's probably got it tapped. If you want in you need to get here in ten minutes. What's it gonna be?"

Standing in the front entrance area of the Wesley House, Mimi pondered the offer. There was an antique framed mirror hanging on the wall in front of her, one of Mrs. Wesley's favorite things. She looked into the mirror, surveying her long brown hair. It had taken about a month and a half for her hair to return to normal after the glue incident. A month and a half of wearing hats to hide the horrifying state her hair had been in. Chloe had done that to her and she wanted revenge.

"I'm in," she replied with certainty.

"Good. Me and Jason will be waiting for you." Click.

Mimi hung up, placed the phone back in her purse and after grabbing her coat she left for Salem Place.

Mimi glanced at the gold watch on her wrist, the only thing she'd been able to keep when her father lost his job, and looked around for Jan. She spotted her sitting at a table with Jason Welles and she didn’t move. She couldn’t stop herself from thinking about how everyone, but her of course, was paired up. Vampira had cast a spell over Philip, couple number one. Jason followed Jan around like a servant, couple number two. And although they were moving at the pace of slugs, she knew Shawn and Belle wouldn't take too much longer to get together. Mimi sadly realized that Jan and Jason were right when they said there was no one for her, and when Jason said that no one would want her. She was homeless Mimi right?

Would she always be thought of that way? Her house would be done in a little less than a month and she'd be moving in. Would people still think of her as that poor little homeless girl? Before she could stop it another question flew in her head. Would Jason still think of me that way? She frowned. Jason was Jan's boyfriend, taken, and he didn't even like her.

She shook her head and decided not to think about that anymore. Jan had a new idea for revenge and that was what she should focus on. Not being alone and definitely not Jason. With that final thought, Mimi headed towards the table where Jan and Jason were sitting.

Chapter 2

Jason watched as Mimi approached them. He looked at Jan and could almost see steam coming from her ears. Mimi was a little late and he knew to Jan that meant she hadn't followed "orders." His gaze returned to Mimi, taking in the slightly depressed expression on her face and reluctantly wondering what thoughts had put it there. Jan noticed where he was looking and she muttered, "It's about time that homeless loser got here."

When Mimi reached them she dropped down onto the chair next to Jason and started an explanation for her lateness. Jan cut her off after one sentence, just as she did whenever Mimi began to speak.

"Can't you do anything right? Jeez, all I asked was for you to be here on time. Did you forget how to tell time? Ten minutes is when the big hand passes two of the big gaps. This is ridiculous. Jason, think you could get me a mocha?"

"Yeah, sure," Jason mumbled and he jumped out of his chair. He walked slowly to the counter, prolonging the time he could spend away from Jan's whining. It never stopped. Two years of listening to it could wear a person's nerves thin. He ordered her drink and glanced back at the table when one of the employees went to make it. Jan was ripping into Mimi, probably spitting out unnecessary insults. He felt sorry for her, he couldn't understand why she took Jan's shit all the time. Jan just used her for help in her stupid schemes. As soon as Mimi's back was turned, she started bad-mouthing her and it was even worse than what she said to Mimi's face if that was possible. Not too long ago he'd done the same thing but it was different now. He was pretty sure Jan said some not too nice things about him too.

He really didn't know why he still listened to her either. They'd been dating for two agonizingly long years. He predicted that he was pretty close to his breaking point. He wasn't sure how much more he could stand. He was tired of her games and seriously considering ending their poor excuse of a relationship.

The server came back, handing him the cup. He took it and got the three straws that Jan had to have. He turned to go back and noticed the two girls sitting quietly. He let out a sigh of relief , he didn't have to hear her whine.

"Finally," she exclaimed when she spotted him. Practically snatching the cup from Jason's hands, she stood and gestured to the seat next to Mimi for Jason to sit. He compiled and she started her speech.

"As you both know, our last plan to get back at Vampira failed. My excellent internet pictures idea didn't work because someone," she glared at Mimi, "not only gave me the wrong locker number but forgot to turn the damn camera on." She paused to stick her three straws in the cup and sip before continuing. "Fortunately, I have come up with another brilliant idea. We're going to execute this plan tonight at Philly's little birthday bash."

Jason rolled his eyes, another attempt at revenge. This was getting old. He didn't want to deal with the plans against Chloe anymore, they'd already destroyed his friendships with Philip and Shawn. He frowned when he saw Mimi's eyes light up, it was sad to see that he only thing that seemed to brighten her mood was a chance to get back at Chloe. Not that he cared about what made her happy. Shaking his head, he tried to tune Jan out while she excitedly explained her plan to them.

Chapter 3

"I'm coming, Meems!" Belle shouted as she raced down the stairs to answer the door. She pulled it open and Mimi rushed in.

"I know I'm late. I got caught up in this…project I'm working on. I didn't even realize what time -"

"Mimi, breathe." Mimi stopped talking and took a deep breath. "Don’t' worry about being late. We have more than enough time to get ready. Let's go upstairs."

Carrying the bag that held her outfit with one hand and her shoes in the other, Mimi followed Belle to her room. She laid her things across the bed as Belle went to the closet to pull hers out. They talked about what to do with their hair and what accessories to wear. After they got dressed, Mimi decided to ask about what was going on with her best friend and Shawn. The flirting level between them had been off the charts recently and they continued to deny their feelings for each other.

Mimi picked up one of her earrings from Belle's desk and put it in. "So, Belle, what is up with you and Shawn?"

"Same as always, absolutely nothing," Belle muttered.

"Absolutely nothing because you want it that way or absolutely nothing because you're afraid to do something?" Mimi asked, catching the hint of sadness in her friend's voice.

"Because I want it that way," she replied quickly and unconvincingly. Mimi turned away from the mirror and raised an eyebrow. "Fine. Not because I want it that way. He only thinks of me as a friend, there's no chance of that changing."

"You have a better chance with Shawn than I do with Jason."

"What did you just say?" Belle's eyes widened to a size Mimi had never seen before.

Please tell me I didn't say that out loud, she prayed. "I didn’t say anything." he turned back around to put on a necklace.

Belle marched over to her. "Oh, no, you don't. I heard you. I can't believe it, Mimi. Jason? How long have you been keeping this from me?"

"I haven't been keeping anything from you. I was just... joking."

"You're a worse liar than me, "Belle said shaking her head. "What are you gonna do?"

"Nothing at all," she glanced at the clock on Belle's wall, "but leave. It's time to go." She fled the room with Belle hot on her heels.

"We are so talking about this on the way there!" she promised.
