Verse Five |
||
| Oh and there we were all in one place, | Woodstock. | |
| a generation lost in space with no time left to start again, | Hippies, wasted their lives being stoned | |
| so come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, | The Rolling Stones 1968 Hit "Jumping Jack Flash" | |
| Jack Flash sat on a candle stick | The Stones Candlestick park concert. | |
| because fire is the devils only friend, | The Stones sold out to the devil. Their only comeback to the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper" was their album "Their Satanic Majesties Request." Seeing that you've probably never heard of this, you can imagine that it pretty much sucks. Also, they released a song called "Sympathy for the Devil." | |
| oh and as I watched him on the stage, my hands were clinched in fists of rage, | In December of 1969, the Stones attempted another Woodstock, this time at Altamont Speedway. This time it was a free concert, with the Hell's Angel's handling the security. The biggest mistake was paying them in advance, but instead of money, they payed with beer and handfuls of acid. While the stones were singing "Sympathy for the Devil," a black man was beaten and stabbed to death by the Hell's Angels. They soon began beating everyone; including a member of the Jefferson Airplane. | |
| no angel born in hell could break that satan's spell | "Angel Born in Hell" is an pbvious Hell's Angels refrence. Also, "Sympathy for the Devil" was rumored to incite the incident | |
| and as the flames climbed high into the night | The Rolling Stones left Altamont by helicopter | |
| to light the sacrificial right I saw satan laughing with delight | Jagger was dancing and prancing while the murder was happening, so Mick Jagger = Satan and the murder provided the sacrifice. |
Verse Five
Oh, and as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in hell Could break that Satan's spell
And as the planes climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
