Chapter 23

The next morning I was disoriented for a split second, trying to figure out both where I was and what had awakened me. I realized that I was tucked in a huge, fluffy bed with a snoring human from on the foot of the bed like a giant dog. It all rushed back to me at once. An amused smile crept across my face as I though of how much fun I’d had. It’d been years since I’d stayed up that late.

All of a sudden, there was a pounding against the door. “AJ, get your lazy ass out of bed! It’s two in the afternoon, and I need to borrow your black shirt!” an irritated voice called.

I looked at the still sleeping AJ, and just pushed him off the end of the bed with my feet. He awakened and sat up, looked around a little and squinted at me. He heard the person at the door and went over and opened it a crack. “What?”

“Good afternoon to you too,” Kevin said exasperatedly, “Can I just borrow your black shirt?”

“Hold on, I’ll get it,” AJ said trying to close the door.

“I’ll get it myself,” Kevin said sticking his foot between the door and frame. He seemed to suspect AJ was hiding something from him.

“Really, it’s fine.”

“No, I insist,” Kevin said edging his way into the room, “What the Hell???” Kevin yelped upon spotting me curled up in the middle of the messed up bed.

“It’s not what it looks like,” AJ cried, “I slept at the foot of the bed and nothing happened.”

“Really?” Kevin said slowly, eyeing me.

“In all seriousness Kevin, I didn’t sleep with him. I didn’t kiss him, hug him, or do anything else involving physical contact except beat him up with a pillow at three in the morning,” I said slowly sitting up.

“Well, I do tend to believe you more than Mr. AJ here, “ Kevin said patting AJ on the back.

“And I can’t imagine way,” I laughed watching AJ’s face begin to burn with embarrassment and anger, “Aright, I can take a hint. I’ll get out of here, “I said getting up and moving to the door.
