Chapter 3
When I returned to the kitchen, AJ was just finishing whatever he was making, and putting it in the oven. It looked and smelled like homemade bread. He then began to ransack the kitchen for the dish soap, so he could clean up the mess he had just made. I was in awe of the fact that a guy knew the meaning of housework. I offered to dry the dishes, and put them away. We finished in a hurry, and I asked him what he wanted to do. He suggested we retrieve stuff off the bus, and bring it in since it looked like they’d be staying for a little while. I gladly lent him my rain coat, and took an old shirt, put it on, put a wind-breaker on, and finally threw my dirty-dishwater blonde hair back into a quick pony tail. I knew I was going to get very, very wet, but I didn’t really care.
We ran to the bus, and thanked God that it wasn’t leaking. Before we left, he had asked everyone, but the still unconscious Nick what they wanted off the bus. He hunted for the requested items, as I just took in the fact that I was standing in the BSB tour bus. We returned with clothes, a laptop, a guitar, and a Nintendo off the bus. Since Howie was content to play with the laptop, Kevin seemed to have a peaceful time just sitting there watching the movie. We went up to the room where Nick was, and hooked the Nintendo up to a little TV we have for video games. (It doesn’t work to receive channels anymore) Brian started to work on the song he was writing.
Since we had nothing to do, AJ suggested that we play a board game to take up the time. I consented, and found that he too has a passion for Monopoly. I won as usual, but not after three hours. Our moms walked in and out, wondering at how long a person could stand to play that game. Neither one was very fond of it. This happens with mothers of only children. Because the child has no siblings to play games with, the mother has to, and by the time the kid has reached the age of 10, the mother has a very severe dislike of almost every type of board game there is. We heard a yelp from upstairs, and ran to see what was the matter. Nick was awake, and seemed to be fine. All he could remember, was being pitched from his bunk as the bus tilted. In fact, he landed on Brian, causing him to hurt his ankle.
Nick saw his precious Nintendo, and immediately turned it on and began to play. He said that he would like to stay in that guest room that night, and he didn’t care who was in it with him. The other room was very large, and the bed in there was made of two twin beds pushed together. I went in there, and began to separate the beds. Since AJ was the one not in a room, he was forced to sleep on a couch because both Howie and Kevin wanted real beds, and Brian consented to share the room with Nick. I am not a person who likes to stay up late on a regular basis, so I said my good nights, and headed off to bed. I fell asleep to noises from the Nintendo in the room next door.
